a great teacher,I enjoy watches and clocks , to learn how to repair them, if you could have the series in order from part 1 to the end in order, that would be great to learn better, he is a great teacher, with great knowledge and great humor in teaching

So simple and yet this process - this way of thinking and diagnosis - has helped me get a grip on watchmaking probably more than anything else. Thank you Kalle.

A lot of great tips in there, Kalle. The "hold the balance steady and manipulate the rest of the movement around it" is brilliant. The "function groups" method is fabulous as well. Many thanks indeed. Cheers.

Excellent demonstration and explanation. Only thing that was not clear was clear visibility of pallet fork on right side, while assembling balance wheel. If possible, please demonstrate. The various function groups explanation was superb. It leads to more knowledge, acquisition of skill and systematic fault finding. Though I am not professional but have learned and understood your guidance clear enough to follow. Appreciate your efforts.

First ever comment on KZbin, and probably not another one for a very long time. Thank you so much for your clear explanations. I, like I'm sure lots of others, watch other KZbin videos on watch servicing. You, however, manage to get so much information across in such a concise and clear way that is great to be able to avail of. I work in a technical area far removed from the mechanics of watches, but I appreciate that people that understand their area can often simplify things. It's those that don't that fall back on jargon, acronyms and the complications. I'm hoping this particular video will help with finding the issue I'm having with a watch.

"Component Isolation" is such an important part of computer troubleshooting; I'm not surprised that it transfers to watch movements so well... Actually, It's more likely that watchmakers invented the technique since computer haven't been around quite so long!

Again, many thanks for these valuable tips. I didn’t appreciate the importance of”backlash” of the train of wheels, and I’ve struggled a bit with installing the balance when I try to install it in a steady movement. Manipulating the movement rather than the balance makes great sense! These videos are really helpful in taking my skills to the next lavel!!

In medicine left or right is from the perspective ot th patient. When you say the pallat fork should be to the right when installing the balance, do you mean towards the outside or the center of the watch?

As an electronic engineer myself I agree with Kalle that the proper troubleshooting technique is very important. Is it plugged in? Do you have correct power from the power supply? Etc.

@@Chipchap-xu6pk Well, what made you choose for electronics engineering in the first place? The magic of a bunch of siliicium parts that, combined make something tick? For electronic troubleshooting one needs an analitical mindset. The same goes for watch repair. And after all the frustration in our lives, from not being able to see what is wrong with a circuit, fault finding in a watch is much simpler, and more satisfying. No parts that release magic smoke, no frustrating feedback loops, just simple mechanical problems. Magic under your control.
