Great video. One add though which I figured out is very important. The pulley on the crank is a harmonic balancer. It is two pieces with a rubber ring in the middle. It would have been really good info to know before. I used a standard puller even though you identified to purchase one for this job. Didn't work out so well.

Hey bud, I’ve got a mechanic changed the water pump, timing belt and tensioner. After repair, my 300 vibrates more than before. I can feel the vibration is pretty bad when accelerating in the 3rd gear (RPM 1500-2000, 50-70KPH). I took my 300 back to the mechanic, they said it’s the transmission problem and wanted me to change the entire transmission. Any clues with the vibration? Could changing the timing belt cause that vibration? Looking forward for your reply. Many thanks
@hyr0llr Жыл бұрын
If it was immediatly after they changed it, was likely not timed correctly.
@vectorhehe7905 Жыл бұрын
@@hyr0llr Thank you. It’s right after they changed it. One last question, let’s say the vibration is level 1 before this repair. After repair, it changed to level 2 in gears other than the 3rd gear. In 3rd gear, I feel the level is 5. The myth to me is why 3rd gear gets the most vibration if this issue relates to timing, instead of transmission? I could not figure out an answer and failed to argue with the mechanic last time.
@hyr0llr Жыл бұрын
@@vectorhehe7905 if it happens in 3rd gear more violently, i guess its possible that the timing could amplify it more. Was the timing bel/WP replaced becuase of the vibration? Or was there another issue other than the vibration.

@hyr0llr3 жыл бұрын
people will say do it at the service manual recommended milage. others would say 100k miles and others would say take the cover off and look at the condition of the belt. i have no loyalty to either time interval so i cant say what you should do. If you feel like you can knock this job out relatively easy , then no problem getting it done. So that way its preventative maintenance.
