On a windy Northern illinois day... I really hope Fiat makes good use of Belvidere's already proven small car building prowess. After all, the previous owners of Chrysler dumped almost a billion dollars into expansion/renovation of Belvidere.

If I were FCA I'd pull all these factory video's and never make another one. Ppl don't want to see a robot making their car or bored employees tightening the same bolts day after day after day, how could you have any pride in the product if you're just a human robot ? It's not just FCA it's GM, Ford and the "imports", their factories are all like this one, they couldn't compete if they all didn't have the same kind of manufacturing environment. I have great respect for the folks who work in these factories they must have a great work ethic to come back to work everyday. At one point in my life I thought assembly workers got paid way too much and I hated the UAW. Now at an older and wiser age I definitely think they deserve what they get paid and they need a strong union to protect what must be their main motivation to come to work, wages and benefits. Many of these people are raising a family on these wages, they deserve a decent wage even if it drives up the price of a Ford, Chevy or Dodge. Is this what the Dodge Brothers envisioned ?

You won't believe how many people want those factory jobs. A surprising number actually DO take pride in their work, and also cherish and care for their work place. You've never been impacted by the closing of an automobile assembly plant, I'm willing to bet. But once that factory is gone, everybody there will wish it could miraculously come back. I have seen several assembly plants go, and it is never a pleasant experience. Not for the people who held the jobs, and definitely not for the residents who live around the factories.

HA, that's why my last VW Jetta GLX VR6 went 316,000 miles and NEVER never left me stranded, ALWAYS got to my destination, in any weather over the years. AND it was a pleasure to drive, secure handling rock steady at speed, tracks perfectly, great seats, unlike GM junk I had for company cars, horrible seats lousy steering, constant issues in repair. VW GLX brakes every 100,000 miles ! Pontiac 12,000 miles ! HAHAHA. Same driving same roads.

Chrysler never made vehicles like VW's Bentley, Porsche, Seat, Skoda,Lamborghinni, and the worlds fasted production car bugatti, VW owns everything, high quality. World's fastest production car has VW W16 engine made in Germany, VW by 2018 will be #1 maker. they are on a roll. You need to be better read, and informed. I had numerous Chrysler vehicles over time, along with GM....they are the biggest reason I now ONLY buy VW products since 1987. GM and Chrysler have no reason to exist

Well usually ya gets what ya pays for. you can be assured that a $38K Tiguan SEL is vastly higher quality than some Chrysler junk at the same price, THAT'S for sure. Same goes for the $28K GTI trumps anything from Dodge or Chrysler. Even the grossly over priced cheesy RT or Challengers. They are trying to re live the past, it's over. at Chrysler. Rear wheel drives, over powered, no control. 21st century, too bad Chrysler is still early 20th. Design, workmanship, engineering, it matters

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, he wants to talk to grownups, whaaaaaaaaaa. And he drives a Valiant. My father had one of teh first like in 1961, then around 74. The 74 was Junk, under powered, even though it had the slant six. The original was stick, more power, much better car. It went down hill rapidly. When Chrysler went K car that was it, game over. In teh 60's the Road Runner, GTX, Cuda, all cool stuff, they never did it again. Chrysler is doomed, no matter who owns em. Let it die.

The idea behind building a super car is they learn stuff and it filters down to mass produced stuff. W16 W12 etc are in Audi and VW models too. Mass produced vehicles. Passat had W12 Toureg had V10 Diesels, like what are in the LeMans racers, except not built out like race cars. you certainly don't get it. And Audi won 11 out of 13 races in TDI That's high performance DIESEL. Something GERMANS invented, and perfected. U.S. makers are idiots. Horrible workmanship, horrible design.

What are you talking about, never had any such issues, what planet are you on? 73 Valiant, yeah, real treat to drive. Nice bench seats, plastic, are you a joker? How's that nice flexible loose steering, wandering across teh road cus teh car can't track straight. We actually had a 73 Valiant for 9 months had to get rid of it, it was so bad, horrible acceleration, horrible all around. Besides going a long time, it matters what it does while it's going. seats, steering, brakes...Valiant joker

Wonder why the "delicate" Jetta GLX went with brakes that lasted 100K between changes, while I had Pontiacs that ate brakes every 12K miles? What are you talking about? And the exact same driving. All you clueless? The brakes on the GLX VR6 Jetta where bigger than a Pontiac Grand Prix, and that car was much bigger, and yet inside had LESS room than my Jetta? Are you fully clueless? Why did Chrysler need Fiat to bail them out, Fiat makes small cars? delicate cars?

Delicate "little" cars? Where do you come up with this nonsense? Have you been on this planet very long, do you understand anything about engineering, design, and how cars are made? Explain "delicate" in a VW? I guess their truck div and commercial vehicles are what? Do you even know what VW mfgs? they have already out produced Ford, they are out shipping most other car makrs, they will be #1 by 2018. i wonder how the delicate Jetta VR6 I had went 316,000 miles and felt great all the way

And put it in a car the can go 257 mph, and it's quiet, smooth and completely stable....it has more CPU power in the air brake than your computer has processing power. The tires are worth more than your house! Power without CONTROL is useless, like a Ford Mustang that slides off the roads, due to rear wheel only drive and over powered, and shit engineering. Once you understand things you know. you are clueless, and stuck in another planet. And you probably never drove an Audi bi turbo
