Scottie, I’m not a car mechanic but you forgot an important step. To release the parking brake and put the Pacifica in brake service mode. I didn’t know this prior to trying to removing pads. This step would’ve been helpful.

2017 Pacifica. Very informative and straight forward. Both back rotors were seized which slowed the job down a bit, but your video helped out immensely. Thanks!

2019 Pacifica. 80k. Did front and rear brakes/rotors with the guidance of your videos. Also did spark plugs, pcv valve, belt, tensioner, idler pulleys, trans drain/fill and more by referencing other youtube videos. It was time consuming, but worth it in the end. Just gotta not be afraid lol. Thank you for your assistance.

Also like to point out to tell people to put brake system in service through uconnect especially when doing rear . It will back the parking break out all the way cause it is ran on a electric servo motor makes it harder to press piston in
@ScottiesHobbies2 жыл бұрын
Great tip. 👍💪 I can tell you, we had no issues with this vehicle after this was done. DO NOT ACTUATE YOUR REAR PARKING BRAKE WHILE DOING REAR BRAKES.... on any vehicle. Parking brake off, wheels chalked. If it has a automatic parking brake, that need to be disabled prior to performing this job.

This procedure is great! I have one quick question, I did the brakes a couple hundred miles ago and now there's a little bit of squeaking that low speed stop. Got any recommendations on what to check?

I liked your video seems pretty easy. I also watched a video on a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and he went into the radion settings to I think disable the electric parking brake. You didn;t have to do that on the 2020. I have a 2019 do I need to do that step?? Thanks
@ScottiesHobbies Жыл бұрын
If you have the ability to get in that mode setting. Do it. Better safe, than sorry.

I have a 2017 Pacifica Touring. I changed by rear bake pads a few weeks ago. when doing so the piston extended out all the way when trying to release the parking brake more. (I did not turn this off at first. So i had taken off the caliper before doing so.) when I did this. the Piston extended all the way. and was not able to roll back in by itself. i had to take off the mechanical piece on the back side of the caliper to spin the teeth for the piston. Also the wiring component that is connected to the black plastic piece on the back of the caliper was damaged. with all that info. I am unable to keep pressure in the brake lines. i have gone through all 4 tires in sequence and made sure no air was in the line. i do not believe i had an empty reservoir. not really sure where to go for this for a DIY. or at this point is it just best to take to a mechanic?
@ScottiesHobbies2 жыл бұрын
The quicker fix would probably be, going to a mechanic. I would have replaced that caliper if I pushed the piston all the way out. Good luck. 🤞🤞

I take you like the AC Delcos for the job? I have to do a 2017 and was wondering about what brand to buy. Thanks

Do you have to replace the tensioner clip in the first part of your video every time you replace the break pads or is it reusable multiple times?

If you have a 21/22 model. Make sure to put the brakes in maintenance mode. This is not my video but it's helpful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqfKqKp3ZtyCY5I What is the time mark of the sensor you are asking about in the video?

Nothing wrong with this vehicle. You might have a slightly different model.

Are you thinking of the parking brake? If you have a 'auto setting' parking brake you would need to turn that off but otherwise, no extra steps.

@@ScottiesHobbies I have a 2017 Touring L, it has the electronic parking prake but I have to press and button to activate it. I've seen videos where you have to go to a "service" screen in the infotainment to deactivate the parking brake. Can you confirm you didn't have to do this? Thanks
@ScottiesHobbies2 жыл бұрын
@@SLICEDfinds do no turn on your parking brake to service your brakes. Leave your parking brake off to work on your car. You are getting confused for a 'auto set' parking brake. Yor have an electric brake. If its the same as the vehicle in the video, no other steps were performed off video to complete this job.
@SLICEDfinds2 жыл бұрын
I did more reading and watched more videos. It now makes sense. There are Pacificas where you have to go to the infotainment to deactivate the brakes in order to service the rear brakes.

Ehhh... we don't get any cars like that. Check out my video library. Probably 100 videos... we are lucky here i guess. Use a wire brush to clean up the area prior to working on it. A clean area makes it much easier to complete the job. Good luck on your fix!! 💪🤞👍

Electronic rear calipers must be put into maintenence mode not doing so could cause system failure you're going to kill someone with that lack of information
