Lots of hate on these engines because they are chrysler... but they are proving to be reliable as hell ... as long as you maintain them... check out the video of a 3.6 going 625,000 before the chains let go ... inside no or hardly any wear
@magnusatheos73013 жыл бұрын
Because most people are idiots and believe everything they hear. Much of the hate perpetuated over the years by the domestic product hating MSM. A US automaker has a recall and the MSM hypes it up to an end of the world event, yet you don't hear a peep about the foreign makers recalls and believe me, they have them. For example, many Hyundai engines are blowing up needing replacement under 25K but you don't hear anything about that from the MSM of the foreign car fanboys. The 3.6L engine is a fine engine.

Wonder if they ever fixed the head problem? The Mrs. has the Jeep JK & in less than 30k miles the left head need to be replaced. Not much longer after that replacement, the right head needed to be replaced. That was just the start! Few months later, the main computer went. That took 6-7 weeks to replace. The Mrs. still loves her Jeep & said would never have anything else to drive.

100 lb for the 4-cyl, 2500 lb for the V6. I wouldn't hesitate to tow a light load, but I'd keep my speed at 55 mpg or below, use the gears wisely, and avoid any significant climbing. I'd add a transmission cooler if it doesn't have one. The Grand Cherokee has a transmission oil cooler even if without the tow package, so maybe Journey is the same.

Everybody knows the transmission is the weak spot on any Chrysler, they seem to not have a problem producing bulletproof engines they should be trying to do the same with the transmission because every other part of my last Chrysler went damn near half 1,000,000 miles but it took three transmissions to do it

I'm Mopar or no car but this is a terrible engine. The oil cooler is in a terrible location and built with the wrong materials, they use plastic fuel rails, do I need to get into the rocker arm issue? Hundreds of these engines destroyed from low-quality rockers. (Lawsuits galore). I've had my pentastar apart 4 times. Twice for rocker arms (the second time I just replaced them all), the oil cooler and two coils. You literally have to take the upper intake off to get the plugs out. I've also had to replace the thermostat. The motor mounts as well but that really isn't the engine. All within 100,000 mi. Absolute garbage engineering with this engine. If you're going to buy a Chrysler in this generation of cars, opt for the 2.4 (very good engine), or a 5.7 hemi. You'll come back here and thank me. Trust me Google pentastar tick. That's all you need to know
