Hey I have a Chrysler Sebring 2007, and the car won’t shift out of park unless i override the system and then it switches gears but it’s also delayed. For instance it will be in reverse but on the dash it’s reading neutral. I did have some transmission work done on it I’m not for sure if that had to do a lot with the problem or if something just broke. Would I have to get a whole new shifter installed or shifter cables or bushing ?
@MotorCityMechanic6 жыл бұрын
Being that the gears are not matching up I would thing a linkage issue. I recommend checking at the trans to make no issues with the bushing or loose linkage at the trans. If okay then check at the shifter. Thanks for the question and for watching. Make sure to subscribe and Merry Christmas

@MotorCityMechanic7 жыл бұрын
Not too sure what might have happened. If it was okay before the repair then I would make sure to check everything out to be certain that nothing was done wrong. Its possibly going to take having access to a scanner that can access all the modules in the car .

Hi! I have a 2001 Chrysler Sebring limited and my transmission won't shift in 2nd or 3rd gear. I changed the input and output sensor and transmission shift solenoid. however it's still won't shift. Can you please use your expertise to help me ? thanks highly appreciated.
@MotorCityMechanic6 жыл бұрын
The first step in this process is to scan all the control modules to see what codes are present. If its not shifting then there has to be a code set for sure. The code will give us a direction to go in. Otherwise we are going at it blind and replacing un-needed parts.
@billymccarty23864 жыл бұрын
The one under the hood failed on my wife's. I found a bushing for something else that will work, but it is really hard to get in. Six months later I had to fix the end in the console.

I got 2010 Chrysler Sebring and its started but it’s won’t go drive or reverse?
@MotorCityMechanic6 жыл бұрын
I recommend checking to see if the trans linkage is moving under the hood. If its not then the bushing on one end might have come apart and need replacing. Thanks for asking and for watching.
@mathiasalphaliedebrum75636 жыл бұрын
I mean I can move the gear easily to PDNR but it’s not responding at all
@MotorCityMechanic6 жыл бұрын
@@mathiasalphaliedebrum7563 A bad bushing wont stop you from moving the shifter. If the linkage moves with the shifter then you have an internal trans issue. At that point I would check the fluid level to make sure not too low. If both items are correct then trans may need to be removed, tore down, and inspected

What year is the chrysler please? I need to replace my bushing its broken and i think its causing codes P0700 and 765 to pop up on check engine light.
@MotorCityMechanic8 жыл бұрын
The bushing was purchased from bushingfix.com and they have the kits for alot of different make and models. Each kit comes with a set of instructions. I recommend going over to their website and seeing what they have to offer for your vehicle. As far as the year of the vehicle in the video....I dont remember at this moment. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe
@MarkPhi098 жыл бұрын
okay will that help fix the p0700 and 765 codes because im thinking about taking my car to dealership and let them fix
@MotorCityMechanic8 жыл бұрын
That issue will not have anything to do with the codes you mentioned. The most likely cause will be the transmission solenoid pack. I actually did a video on that as well. Check it out.kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIe2f2iHq9qjqMU
@MarkPhi098 жыл бұрын
yea i checked it out i took to shop guy say i need whole tranmission
@MotorCityMechanic8 жыл бұрын
I hope that they arent guessing or just wanting to replace the entire unit instead of checking it. In some cases yes it might be needed......in other cases no.....just the solenoid pack is needed. It takes a special tester to check the solenoid pack which is called a transmission simulator and unless they are a dealer....they most likely dont have one so I am wondering how they checked it. Personally I would start with dropping the trans pan and look for debris....if okay then do a trans service and also replace the solenoid pack and then see what happens when driven instead of throwing alot of money at a trans replacement

What year Sebrings does this apply to?
@suzzanimalchannel10303 жыл бұрын
can this cause your car not to start? I just bought my son a 08 Chrysler Sebring 3 weeks ago and today he couldn't get it to start when leaving from work, The shifter was in park but the indicator said it was in Reverse. We got it towed home, then after a few tries I was able to start it up and drive it around the block, but when I pulled it back in driveway it wouldn't start again and it was in park but of course the indicator said again its in Reverse. I hoping its not the transmission and just maybe the kit I need to buy.

hi David awesome video just wondering the dealer really allows you to make repair video like this were there any concern at management level I don't know just curious
@MotorCityMechanic8 жыл бұрын
They are very cool about it and actually encourage me to make more. I get asked that alot. We figure that there are two types of people.....the ones that will do the repair themselves and not bring there vehicle in and then there are the ones that are curious what might be wrong with their vehicles and want to see what the repair requires and why they are being charged what they are. So it doest drive business away but actually brings business to the shop. People start trusting me and then are welling in some cases....to drive 2 hours for a simple repair. I do know of dealers that wont allow it. Luckily I have built a relationship with my owners and they are onboard and offer any assistance they can.

Terrible attitude to customers, service department never pick-up the phone like no one is there. No express oil change lane, no service coupon...Imagine you are surrounded by a population of 4million people and only 3 FCA dealership, each of them are 10-40 miles away from each other. Whereas this kinda FCA dealership density is very typical in an 100k population town in the midwest.

I fully understand. I plan on possibly doing a "rant" video about that issue. I have a truck that's in for a repair that the another dealer couldn't do the repair on. We are just outside of the second largest city in Georgia.....the other dealer is the largest in the area with 6 car brands on their lot. They had the truck for 3 months! Saying they could do the repai because they didn't have a lift larger enough to pick the truck up. Crazy thing is that it doesn't need to be jack up/lifted......it's just a sensor replacement that I can do in the parking lot. That pisses me off! It gives the brand a bad name. I will never understand it. So the big shop dumps it off on the small shop that we are

I ordered the part, but it almost looks like the bushing can be replaced without removing the box. Is that doable? I realize the potential for losing something is greater, but do you ever do it that way?
@MotorCityMechanic8 жыл бұрын
You certainly can if you can reach it easily. Main reason I did the repair that way was so that you could clearly see how to do the repair. Plus I took the end off which isnt needed either. So yeah....you should do fine after having watched the video and understanding how it works. Thanks for the purchase and the comment. Make sure to subscribe!

The repair went very smoothly. It took about ten minutes. I didn't have to remove the air box. Works fine. Thanks for the video and the link to the bushing supplier. Keep up the good work.

Just saved me a tow to the shop and what ever they would have charged for the repair. Thanks! btw - the amazon link above doesn't work anymore but I found the part for my 2007 Sebring Limited at BushingFix - part #TB1KIT20 for $20 plus tax and shipping.

My car is not shifting either but my mechanic is telling me it’s the cable and transmission. How can I be sure it’s one or the other not both
@MotorCityMechanic6 жыл бұрын
Its odd that its both items....how can they fail at the same time, cable and trans? When we say shifting I want to be sure we are talking about the shifter inside either not moving or moving and also looking at the trans when the cable mounts and having some more the shifter as you look to see if its moving that the trans and that its still on place and hasnt come of.

MotorCity Mechanic recently I had someone else look at, they claim it was the bushing neither the cable or transmission

Ok I fixed the p0765 code and the p0700 still there so how do I clear it or should I give it time to clear since I just fix other code
@MotorCityMechanic8 жыл бұрын
The majority of the time you can just go to the module that has the P0700 code and just clear it once we made sure there were no codes in the TCM. Other times all you needed to do was clear the code in the TCM and then the other code P0700 would disappear. One thing is.......if the issue has been repaired then over time it should clear itself.
