Love my Dodge! I had a 8.0 v10 in a work truck! ZERO Issues. Rock solid reliability. Love this video.

My dad works at cummins engine plant and he drives a 2001 ram 3500 dually with a v10 magnum in it. That should say something about how good they are.

me too man, that was one beastly engine. it was the most powerful gas engine in any pickup truck when it came out in 94. i personally loved the magnum engines. they were powerful as all hell in their day. gotta love the 90s!

I miss the 90s, when things where simple. When I was a kid I remember going up to any dodge truck I seen and if I saw a v-10 emblem on the side front fender I was ecstatic. I will get a v10 someday

this engine did not have 295 hp. it had 310 hp but with a good exhaust system and K&N air intake system it can be increased up to 351 hp and over 500 ft-lbs of torque.

99 onwards had 310 hp. 94-98 had 300 bhp

For all the people who asked, they discontinued them because they are inferior in every way to the smaller, more efficient and less expensive Hemi. The Magnum V10 was an engine from the 60's that never evolved. It was more than just meeting EPA regs that killed it. There were never aluminum blocks or heads. There were never valvetrain upgrades. They never made improvements to them. It was built when fuel was cheap and cubic inches were needed in the truck market. In 2003 it was extremely heavy, extremely thirsty and extremely ungainly. There were packaging constraints developing due to increasingly less room in the engine bays. With more modern technology and variable timing you no longer needed the cubic inches to make power. A Magnum V10 weighs over twice as much as an LS engine and over 300lbs more than the Hemi. I liked the V10. I still do. It was just time for it to go. Like the 454, 440 and 460 big block engines it just stopped making any sense at all. It is absolutely useless as a performance engine. There has never been and never will be any aftermarket for it. The cranks are too long to even be able to make big power numbers. Add the cast iron heads, which can't breath worth a damn and weigh a million pounds, and you have the recipe for exactly nothing worth upgrading. If there had ever been aluminum heads and if the Viper crank could have been used then there could have been power potential. It just never happened.

You seem to have a point. Reason why no one swaps this monster of an engine in any car build. Alot of guys might be caught up in the "it is a V10" mindset. Personally, I feel like you can stroke a 5.9 V8 Magnum and fit it with aluminum heads and have a engine close enough in power with alot less weight and more simplicity

The "hemi" which isn't, is absolutely not more reliable. It also does not have near the bottom end power of the v10. For a heavy duty engine, the v10 is hands down better.

@@krogunlimitedfahrenkrog6110If you want heavy duty, then go get a 8 cylinder 12 liter Scania motor 600 HP. 3000 Nm...

@Guds777 Scania are okay I guess, but there are other motors I'd pick first. None of them fit light duty trucks, though, lol.
