i know this was 7 months ago but i feel i have to comment. When youre ministering to a crowd of people who dont wanna praise God, sometimes you gotta sit there and break that atmosphere so God can come in and change things. He inhabits our praise and if we dont praise him, he wont be there...

i love Chrystal because she's sweet and she can sang! She sound like that live every time, and she means what she sings. It's not about performance with her like many vocalists... She literally seems like she internalizes every solo. Watch out for her on the Kurt Carr studio team - one of Kansas City's finest...

Praise God for gospel music..I truly believe that aside from the word of God preached, ministering in "song" draws people to GOD as well..so unfortunetly sister Lisa you are WRONG..God moves in different ways..see sometimes when God's word falls on deaf ears, His praise and worship music tugs @ people heart strings..and the Holy Spirit can move in that way to convict those who know not God. That's how I got saved and I'm a living testimony..So praise God for music ministry..

We are so programmed by the world to criticize everything. We are carnal and not spiritual. It's hard for us to just enjoy great music which leads us to worship GOD without being judgmental. We as people of God sometimes have to be reminded of what God has done for us and what he is capable of because its easy to become complacent about things....especailly at church events because in all the hustle and bussle its easy to lose focus and purpose.

Falsetto is a term used for tenors who false set thier voice. Ask your professor. she would have to sing low to sing falsetto. because her natural placement is high. She just uses short air thru her vocal chord column while holding the layrnx down. sorry didn't mean to get so technical.

I have to agree. I don't know if it's the singers or the director but they should be singing much more powerful than that. I saw a group of 3 singers sings so powerfully that you would have thought that it was a 20+ choir.

You can't make sounds like that with a low larynx. The edges of her cords are vibrating and she's putting the tone, as far into the mask as possible, almost in the nose, to simulate a belt or chest-like tone. And Chrystal seems to have a naturally big heavy low alto voice with big cords,

so with her apparatus being so profuse then it stands to reason that her placement and production are closer to a man's falsetto than a woman's "head voice". Hence, I'm calling it falsetto. I agree with you that it's not necessarily the same because women's and men's voices are so physically different, however, the way it is produced and the way that it resonates cannot be allowed to be called "head tone".

she's not holding her larynx down. It's a very high laryngal placement. The tone would be much more like "voce piena di testa" like an italian tenor if her larynx was low. Very few gospel singers or singers period these days sing with low larynx placement. Mahalia Jackson used to, which is why she sounded like A man singing sometimes. So did Rosetta Tharpe. But Kim, The Clarks, VBA, Daryl Coley, etc. not at all.
