God I love this song. Its so amazing. My favorite part has to be during the chorus, when Doris is humming, and Dani's bass drum is thumping out 8th notes, then he blasts into 16th notes during the peak of her notes... (2:05)

They've always been a folk black metal band....their albums/songs have a theme that in someway relates to their folklore and history as a country. If they were going mainstream they would just get heavier and brutal as surenopimp said. They would also start writing songs typical to that of most black metal bands. I still love chthonic and that's not changing any time soon.

Drum solos are not restricted to being un-assisted by the rest of the band. And its a blast beat made up of a gravity roll and a snare-tim roll. That doesn't make it not a solo. A solo on drums is anything concidered to stand out from the rest of the bands performers.

I miss this Chthonic so much. This is when they were at their peak as a band. Freddy's vocals were at their peak and the writing of their music was at their peak. The last few albums can't even come close to this masterpiece of a song. I hate Freddy's new vocals. He does 3/4th gutturals and only 1/4th high pitch screams now. He probably hurt his voice which is why he doesn't scream as much now. Such a shame. He had some good high pitch screams. But, his vocals just sound silly now. Their new music is boring and just sound uninspired. It doesn't have any emotion, passion, dark, intensity, and creepy vibe that this song has. They've become too much of a folk band. Ditching the keyboards that made their songs awesome and dark in favor of folk instruments and just making the music tasteless. RIP Chthonic 1995 - 2006

It's true that their new style is different and I prefer this era, but they still have some very good material coming from the last few albums. They never ditched the keyboards either. They just implemented real instruments along it.

their new album is a bit better, not so uninspired but Mirror of Retribution was kinda weak outside of Blooming Blades yeah [and finally having the amazing UNlimited Taiwan in an actual release lol probably my fav song by them] but yeah the quality of their riffs went down a good notch the past few albums although despite my neglecting them for the same reasons seems their newest album is doing a bit better

Really? They aren't even near popular enough to be affected. Mirror of Retribution is a phenomenal album. And the looks.. really? They modeled their new look based on their own history and folklore. Chthonic STILL kick ass.
