The Dane was such a good river but I’ve not been near since the devastating pollution of 2004 , seems to have recovered by the looks of things , best pin river in the north too 👍🏻

getting there slowly, otters on there now so having impact but not as much as the flood prevention measures of cutting down all the trees

@@DannysAnglingBlog It used to be amazing back in the 90’s , Croxton lane usually needed 50lb plus to stand a chance of framing , dace were huge and big shoals of them too . There was a craze of fishing the pole line to hand for the barbel and Chub and it worked brilliantly and Will Jackson had it perfected , secret was to throw the pole behind on the strike and turn and lift them , looked brutal and some of the purists used to go mad but using barbless and direct contact meant you rarely lost fish , when you did it was always a hook pull after getting pulled into the bushes 😂 seeing you catching Chub on the stick has cheered me up as I gave up asking the lads at Dave’s how it’s recovering a while back as the Dane was the north’s stick river . I’ve been dropping into the Gowy for years , some sizeable roach , dace and Chub in there , huge Pike and believe it or not carp 😮 The Alt has really come on over the past decade or so and some big chub have been taken recently by Kirkby golf course 😂 Miss bagging up on the stick but I think we all got spoiled in the 70’s , 80’s and 90’s . Think next season I’m going to hammer the Ribble as there’s some monster Roach showing . Keep it up Danny as the blog is spot on , I thought I was the only weirdo who thought thrashing the water with a stick or Wag left 😁 Stick with the pin , they do “wind” you up at times but no better way of staying in touch especially stretting or way over depth . Take it easy , tight lines and stay safe dude 👍🏻

There's plenty of good value used ones, I have an old JW Young Trudex and a rapidex, about fifty quid each. A little more for better condition ones.
