Superb video as usual Danny - lovely to see the education in resting fish, especially for beginners. Regardless of the species (Barbel and Pike particularly), the fish has earned their stripes in the battle - they need to be looked after and when you see a good fish swim off strongly after you have landed and unhooked it, having given it a good rest, it's a satisfying scene to behold and one every true angler is proud of.

hi Danny . just subscribed. Great videos mate. very informative and you have great fish care. You come across as a genuinely nice fella who just loves fishing and appreciates what it's all about..

There's something special about taking barbel, or any fish, on float. One problem I've found using those Quick Snap Swivels is that the rubber can be pushed up if the barbel run under a snag leaving the possibility of the hook length falling off. Lucky for me it's only fallen off when the fish is in the net, so far.

Lovely stuff Danny. Down here in Cornwall we don't have coarse fish in our river - if we had barbel and chub I'd be all over it. But for 40 years my passion has been mullet and I was wondering if you'd ever fished for them? I'm sure you would love it, challenging to catch and fight bloody hard.

@stuartbrookes60302 жыл бұрын
Great video as usual Danny. Only thing I would say is don’t take tins on the bank, for litter reduction and safer to prepare the meat at home. Had a friend who had a nasty accident with a tin on the bank so much safer at home. Lots of people watch your blog so it would be an important message to get across As I said earlier great blog and what a days fishing. Tight lines 👍🏻

Awesome Danny we spoke a lot about this swim. Now I need to try it haha. I fished this peg a few times with not much joy, but I seen so many people hammer them on the float. I’ll be trying this soon

Hi Dan, I am fairly new to fishing, been considering buying a new all round float rod for river fishing (trent) and fishing on commercials and was considering the 12 foot glide rod. Interested on your thoughts and why and whether you would choose the 12/14 foot rod over the straight 12? Keep up the good work. Cheers John
@johnowen48882 жыл бұрын
Great video, especially like the rig explanation. I do hope you will use the Glide with a centrepin at some point

If you want Barbel on the float that's the peg to be on, had my first float caught barbel on that peg. A very prolific swim when on form you can have 20 plus fish out in a day.
@southcoastangler2 жыл бұрын
Great video again mate! Do you need a ticket to fish across the Severn?
@raymitchell42202 жыл бұрын
Brilliant Danny, that's the only way to get them, in a river, the only barbel I've caught have been in commercial ponds, I haven't had the opportunity in a river, it doesn't seem right, they don't look as good as they should in running water. Take care, Norfolk Ray

At last some proper Barbel fishing. I can’t abide these dudes who fish for Barbel like they do for carp. Bah. Just hold the bait back and literally inch it through. You don’t need to watch the float once it’s travelling properly through your swim, just watch your rod tip…On a good day you’ll find Chub at the front of the swim and Barbel at the end. On a very good day you’ll empty it. Hemp hemp hemp, you put far too much meat in I think, that’s why the Barbel were small. But at least you hit a ‘shoal’ not a ‘fish’. A cracking video all in all. 👏👏👏

Whe you hit a double on there you won't move it mate, it'll feel like you've hooked a breeze block against that flow and the rod will feel futile.
