I started buying records (45s) in the winter of 1962. The first five: Gene Chandler "Duke of Earl" / Gary 'U.S.' Bonds "Dear Lady Twist" / B.Bumble & Stingers "Nut Rocker" / Dee Dee Sharp "Mashed Potato Time" / Chubby Checker (w/Dee Dee Sharp) "Slow Twistin'" Best thing about seventh grade was radio & records outside of class.

Dee Dee Sharp was born on September 9, 1945 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. She is married to Billy Witherspoon. She was previously married to Kenny Gamble. From 1962-1963 she had 5 Top 10 US Pop hits: "Mashed Potato Time" (#2), "Slow Twistin'" (with Chubby Checker) (#3), "Give Me Gravy (For My Mashed Potatoes)" (#9), (Gonna Get On My Pony and)" Ride" (#5) and "Do the Bird" (#10). UPDATE: She is now 77 (September 9, 2022).

"Slow Twistin'" is a song written by Jon Sheldon, and recorded by American rock and roll musicians Chubby Checker and Dee Dee Sharp (the latter being uncredited on the single and early albums). Released as a single in 1962, it peaked at number 3 on both the Billboard Hot 100. A different version of Slow Twistin’, with lead vocals by Dee Dee Sharp and featuring Chubby Checker, and with different lyrics, appeared on Dee Dee Sharp’s 1962 LP It’s Mashed Potato Time.

I want to add “Slow Twistin’” from Apple Music to one of my phone playlists. My search in Apple Music yielded no results. I eventually found this song only under a top hits album of Chubby’s. So, I downloaded it, and when I went to play it, it was labeled as Popeye the Hitchhiker (or something like that). And, when it played, it was indeed Popeye the Hitchhiker. We’re talking 60 years ago, when I would’ve been 12, but I don’t remember it as Popeye the Hitchhiker, I just remember it as The Hitchhiker. Anyone have a better memory of the song I’m talking about? Was it called Popeye the Hitchhiker, or something else? And, any idea why Apple Music would not have Slow Twistin’ available?

For the record the young woman in this video is NOT Dee Dee Sharp.
