It's amazing that Chuck Brown is remembered for being called the Godfather of GOGO...No one ever talks about the fact that he introduced songs from the 40s and 50s to a new audience decades after they were written. Songs like Moodys Mood, Hoochie Coochie Man, Run Joe, Midnight Sun, etc,etc...Two third (2/3) of his set list was old jazz standards and jump blues. I've had arguments with people who swore he wrote those songs...lol. His genius to me was taking those songs and adding the GOGO flavor to them and topping it off with the call/ response parts...Bravo Chuck and may you rest in peace. 🙏🏼

YES!! WHen I was in Japan with Chuck, we sat down and he talked about Charlie Parker for half an hour! He was deeply inspired by bebop. But the crazy thing is he sounds like a true 100% blues man too! And the man created his own genre of music. He is a TITAN of real music, real vibes and LOVE. RIP!! 🙏🏻
