Chuck is like that,he keeps it real, like I do,and we have been friends about 51 YEARS.My crew and his did parties together, and people need to stop trying to LIE and rewrite history, inserting themselves into a timeline they did not live in.Shouts out to the Late Pumpkin,King of the Beat,DJ Basic,Norris,Will,Bobby Black,Boston Road/The Valley,Jip RIP,Tony,James K.,Breakout/Funky Four,Get High Crew, etc, etc.Yeah,I got my set of "take me to the Mardis Gras' from Chuck, and he's the SINGLE person who never calls ahead to see if i am home, and can visit whenever he wants. He's going to check you about anything and everything,if you are not on your game, and friends like that do not just happen everyday. I still have my records, even though I learned Serato, and have my own studio setup, because people like Chuck helped to keep me focused on my musical goals. It's not all about not liking digital DJ toys, yet to have that basic analog skillset AND know digital,is on another level than digital alone.Oh yeah,if you're one of those idiots who says old school doesn't matter, where do you think what we have now came from stupid????BEFORE sampling, and this goes out to a certain musician on YT now bellyaching, lying, and fronting, about how his music was sampled. Before we sampled,we were outside in the park, plugged into the lightpost, lopping those breakbeats BY hand,ON tECHNICS belt drive TURNTABLES,THEN LATER 1800s,1200s,etc,etc.YOU were NOT THERE,and you did not give us love, nor airplay. You ALL said, except for a few,HIpHOP was not music, was a fad, wasa passing phase.THen it was FRANKIE CROCKER,who gave us play, along with club/dance music, and then KIng Tim 3 was released. We MADE slipmats from LP covers, felt, etc, etc. Then Steve Dee started 'the funk',and Djing went to yet another level, called juggling.SO my point is,fakers, posers and liars,MOST of you were NOT interested in working with the HipHop community concerning your breaks, until it left the park, and went onto vinyl with sampling. Before,I was finding your music for $1.00,in the sale bin,or we went to DOwnstairs records, etc,to find breaks. How the hell do you think artists like'Manila Thriller,Cerrone,Herman Kelly,or Mahavishnu Orchestra crossed over???DJssssssssssss....Learn it,respect it,and elevate it,if you can.........

Physically purchasing records, Equipment carrying, set up (speakers, amps etc), using a mixer and turntable that wasn't designed for hip hop, week in - week out, NO "how to" videos, No mp3's or downloads (you fuck a record up, it's gone), all the way to this digital "software does 90% of the work" era, But most importantly, to be able to rock and be respected for 30+ yrs (which is an accomplishment in ANY field) is why Chuck and those like him are Legends, we'll see how long the cookie cutter nay sayers are around before technology allows a cat or dog to do what they do. BTW, ask anyone who is anyone in the DJ game and they'll say Chuck is a Legend, respect from your peers is more difficult to receive than from your audience. Salute!

So if a kid wanna DJ, he automatically has no respect for the kid bc he wasn't DJing like back in the day? Come on bro. I got respect for old school but they shouldn't put today's generation down just bc they don't do things Ike the old way? In matter of fact, that's like people back in the Disco funk days saying, "yo we ain't got no respect for these deejays bc they're scratching and looping our music! They spin our records, that's not music. Real music is actually playing the instruments!" Hate when old school dudes put others down like that. Humble yourself bro

Chuck stayed the same. His character is like that. Pushing buttons is for those that know how to use them effectively (which is a bit rare for Hip Hop, easier wit House or EDM). The culture of Deejaying has moved forward with technology. All the other elements have moved forward & spread all over the world with europe still coming here to learn from the skilled ones. Still need bros like him to do what they do so those who wish to move further can recognize that there's levels to acquire

First I want to address some weird comments about DJs,not playing instruments.I spun with Chuck and Basic, and our crews did parties together, and yes,I did learn instruments.I also used to perform,so unless you know the REAL history, you cannot make assumptions.Red Spyda..pianist..Dre..Drums...Premiere..drummer...2Pac,heard he played the bass..Now a LOT of artists would have NO BURN if it was not for DJs spinning and sampling their music, and I bought a LOT of music for a dollar or less. Our friend Pumpkin,"King of the Beat",was a drummer.Chuck used to show up with the Dynaco amp, tables in crates, and Norris had the out of print beats, like "Ego Trippin".Sometimes we speak about skills on the decks, because when the computer/data doesnt work,we have our brain/hand skills to fall back on.Chuck went to Downtown Records and I went all over other places, and at first, his name wasnt Chuck Chill Out,yet if he did not tell you,i wont either...hehehehe..Shout out to Basic,RIP Pumpkin,Bobby Black,Norris,Rip James Kinloch,Breakout,RIP Jip,Funky Four MCs,Baron,Red Alert,Bobby Kondors,Will Da Mic,Jazzy Joyce,Boston Rd crew,The Valley,TConnection,CoOp City centers/crew,the Boogie Down Bronx,NYC/NJ,etc,etc..Of course love to Philly,Florida and everywhere i used to dig for music/beats...Oh and yes, some smart OGS invested long ago,so we have our OWN studios,so we can do independent work..
