I just visited Chuck Connors' grave site at the San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills, California. Connors appeared in more than 60 movies and more than 70 TV shows during his long acting career, but he is best remembered for playing Lucas McCain in the classic TV western series "The Rifleman" between 1958 and 1963. Johnny Crawford played his son Mark.
Before getting into acting, Connors was a Major League Baseball player and a National Basketball Association player.

This was great Steve. I was born in '58, but loved watching The Rifleman in reruns with my brothers and my dad. I remember Chuck Connors well, and I'm so impressed with his careers! Playing baseball, serving during WWII, playing NBA for 2 yrs, and THEN having a successful acting career? Who'd have known? He was a very impressive man, and thank you for showing us his final resting place. Does he have family nearby? It seems like such a non-descript kind of grave, for someone who was larger than life.

I remember as a small child, my dad was stationed in Beeville Texas at the air station base that now has been turned into a prison. Chuck came to a function there and I not only got to meet him but he picked me up and said " Who is this beautiful little girl", I was just stunned and speechless cause I was so high up! I felt like a giant, but a sweet guy had picked me up! He was taller than my dad! He gave me a signed photo that one of my jealous siblings tore up. I was heartbroken, that was such a happy memory. R.I.P Mr. Connor's, I will be visiting his grave soon to place flowers and my respect.

I was born in '64 so I grew up watching all the great western movies and tv shows as reruns though I didn't know they were reruns until I got older. The rifleman was a favorite of mine. My dad God rest his soul loved western shows so I watched them all. Laramie, The Cimmaron ect....and so on. I search then out today as well because tv certainly isn't what it once was. I believe from the mid 1950's to the early 1980's was the best time for t.v.. The golden years being the 70's for movies and t.v.. They'll never make shows like that again unfortunately and that is sad in my opinion. Thank you for quick look at what I believe was one of the greats.

How sad, that such a legendary man lies alone in a common grave with not a flower one. His family should have taken him home to be buried with other family members. I watch his program every afternoon and I will never forget how great an actor and legendary man he was. God bless and RIP.

I well remember when the series was Airing, how much I wished my dad was like Lucas McCain. R.I.P. Chuck Connors and Johnny Crawford. The Era of your Very Family Friendly films are sorely needed again today. 😢 I was honored to have met Johnny Crawford on set of his last movie, _Bill Tilghman and the Outlaws,_ which was retitled _The Marshall_ on release. What a great showman he was too, with the rope tricks and singing between takes.
