In this VladTV interview, Chuck D of Public Enemy sat down and talked about a variety of topics including the origins of Hip Hop, dissing Elvis and John Wayne on “Fight The Power,” his past issues with Russell Simmons and Lyor Cohen, and more.
Along with that, Chuck D addressed the controversy surrounding Biggie’s “10 Crack Commandments” using his voice and the lawsuit involving his co-songwriters. Watch above.

I was into Metal in the 80's living in Australia........ but I LOVED Public Enemy, I think Chuck's voice is the best Rap voice with the best tone I have ever heard. (Personally) . They were talking about lack of equality LONG before it became ok to speak out against the Gov. Now we need them again with all this shit happening. 💖

The UK scene in the 80s/early 90s was strong(!).... Damn shame it didn't get the industry support that the urban sub-genres of later decades (garage, grime etc,) enjoyed. London Posse, Blade, Hijack, Hardnoise, Katch 22, Overlord X, MC Duke, MC Mell'o, Demon Boyz, Caveman etc. should be WAY more renowned than they are today...... Even most of the UK kids of today have no clue about that era or the fact that for a while we stood shoulder to shoulder with the U.S. greats of the time; like PE, Ice-T & RunDMC.

A Legend in his own time. I had the pleasure of watching the rise of Chuck D. on the side lines on Strong Island. I even had a chance to work with his Spectrum Mobile DJ crew back in the day through one of the members. Did I see Public Enemy coming back then ? No I didn't. Was I surprised by his success? No I wasn't. It was in the cards for him to be auspicious. Chuck and his affiliates and friends set it up that way. I was happy for for his trajectory. He didn't disappoint. This is one of the great interviews of his career. A teaching moment.

I saw them clash in the early 80s when we had Westbury Day in New Cassel Park during the summers . But everything you said is facts because his grind was rea and we were blessed to witness him and his Iconic crew blow up. Salute to Chuck Dee who made Long Island NY aka Strong Island NY proud

So the energy was success flowing in the air. I met Chuck D. again over here again in a Night club after one of his concerts with P.E. That was back in 92. Chuck D rap style was like a southern baptist preacher in a way. Also his rap pattern was so unusual. "Yes, the rythm the rebel, without a pause, I'm lower the level." Plus his subject matter was unusual. Pro black, educational. And the music he rapped over was almost thrash metal in a way. It was aggressive, chaotic, and wild with its samples and sonic fabric.

My neighbor who is a musician himself, let me borrow Yo Bum Rush The Show and Takes a Nation. I made a cassette copy so I could bump it in my car. It blew my mind. Chuck's voice jumped out of my speakers like he was explaining to me what it was like and how it felt to be a black man living in America. It was honest. It was real. It was heartfelt, and I respected that.

The fact that we've had movies about NWA, Nas, Wu and others and not PE (who were a revolution unto themselves!) is an absolute travesty.

Vlad needs to step his game up. He claims to be huge fan but doesn't even know most of the basics

He's obviously got the contacts, but he not a good interviewer.... He's also far too distracted by all the drama & beef that surrounds the music which causes some of the more interesting aspects of the music itself to fall by the wayside.

When i saw the title i thought it was going to be Vlad spending 3hrs of the video trying to convince Chuck D that Eminem isn't a great MC

Lol..Eminem isnt garbage but he is overrated..lol. there is and there were greater M.C.s that dont get shine due to the puppet masters of the industry that pull the strings..give the same lyrics to a brother and they would be average..I'm in my late 40s and been studying and living hiphop since 1982 so I've seen and heard better talent..no hate, just my honest opinion
