Akon came through for another VladTV interview, and this time around, he went more in-depth on his story, including growing up in both the U.S. and Senegal. A clip from the start of the conversation went viral after Akon stated that he feels like Black people in America hold themselves back in some ways by focusing on slavery. He also spoke about living in St. Louis, which he called the "ghetto-est" place he's ever seen, and Akon then detailed an elaborate $700,000 a month car theft ring that he was running, which landed him in jail for 3 years.
Moving along, Akon spoke about getting a mere $12,000 for his first deal with SRC Records, and he then got into a debate with Vlad about doing "Locked Up 2" with Tekashi. He also addressed signing various artists himself, including Lady Gaga, Jeffree Star, and T-Pain, who Akon says was held back in his career because he never left the urban sector. To hear more, including Akon City and his road manager knocking out Suge Knight, hit the full interview above.

@Brandon Nihher boi johnson you dont even know if im white or not and im the idiot, assuming things is usually the first thing idiots do ... you are partially right ,but you dont know how things work here, its really easy to say akon sold out , but try understanding the concept of having to choose the lesser of two evils, you dont get anything done here without somebody takin something, and im from Angola ,you probably have no idea where tf it is , to clarify to you we are also “owned” by China most of our infraesctructure was and is being built by them, we choose them as allies , we are literally getting ouserlves in massive debt and they of course take advantage of that , Thats why they are doing in the first place !! You dont get shit done here freely , so when you say akon sold Out and thinking he is a massive fraudster or shit like that you are being ingenous, Thats the only way those people would be able to see electricity in Their life

Akon is still a boss then. I don’t see any other celebrities trying to make a difference with their money. All I see on Instagram is who has what and who can make the most money, but most people don’t give a f**k about helping other countries. They would rather waste their money on diamonds that someone died for. It’s a joke and now there’s a whole generation of people with the same ideology. It’s 2021 there should be no person in this world without electricity or water. It makes me sick to my stomach to watch and do nothing we have all this technology to help change the world but instead what’re we doing? Fu****g tiktok dance moves. I’m done.

A lot of yall dont understand this guy POV. He's said Africans dont think about slavery because they are more focused on recent history, the history that matters right now and the one that is still impacting their lives, and thats Colonization and Neo-Colonization, which is basically modern slavery. Africans think about that because they can still feel it, like for example lot of Countries in Africa are using XOF which is basically french made currensy, and still pay for that shit, even if they dont want it. Imagine a slave owner, giving you useless paper and telling you that it is the only currensy you can use, and even worse you have to pay them to use it. Or even think about what France is still doing, which is being one of the top Petroleum and Nuclear seller and user, but they dont even have a drop of those ressources in their country... Thats basically like having a slave owner "freeing" you, and still coming to your "own" land to sell all your ressources. And the worst thing is that whenever the people there want to elect a "true leader", they kill that leader and replace him with a corrupt one (Sankara, Lumumba, Nkrumah,...) And more recently, they have been financing terrorism in a lot of countries ( you can easily find that on the internet, with Boko Haram and such, when you find out that even the UN was delivering high quality weapons to those groups. And you end up with low life scums having better weaponry than the army itself, which is so flagrant) Thats neo-colonization for you my friends, and thats why Africa can't be developped until you get rid these leeches that are French and US gouvernments and lobbies (and notice that Im talking about governments and not people, for those of you who still thinks black people are always blaming white people in general, thats clearly not the case. Governments and lobbys are everybodys ennemy, black, white, yellow, it doesnt matter, the government doesnt have peoples best interest in mind) China is different, they are owning stuff by corruption and business, but at least they never killed african leaders or fund terrorism... That is what africans are thinking about, and not what happened 400 years ago.

I live 15 minutes from East St. Louis now. I lived through the police strike he is talking about. It is worse than that. The police had to sell the building the city/police owned, to help keep paying for the police payrolls. Even crazier is that they offered the strip clubs (the PT's organization) the building first. They were willing to go from no rent to having to pay rent. It is crazy here.

Vlad says he “knows” street people, but he himself is actually not a street person, he will NEVER understand what Akon is trying so hard to explain, nor what Tekashi is going thru? Nipsey Hussle died by explaining to a alleged snitch that he couldn’t be seen associating with him because the streets are always watching? Lost his life for the street code. Nipsey could have got hurt in many different ways by allowing this guy to get close to him

Let it go..... le sigh Black folks aren’t pissed about slavery. It’s anger over things that have persisted since slavery. Black women dying in childbirth over medical neglect is not the past it’s now. Black folks not getting interviewed because of their name on resumes is not the past it’s now. The micro aggressions experienced at work, at school in the community is not the past it’s now. Redlining neighborhoods is not the past it’s now. Linking government assistance to single parents only is not the past it’s now. Not making it to jail to face judge and jury is not the past it’s now. Stop saying folks are living in the last when the current situation is still rich with unnecessary adversity. There are studies from prominent groups on this. Racism is alive in America. His comment to just go to Africa... clearly his family was more well off than he is letting on and Let’s not forget foreigners and immigrants are given more opportunities than Black Americans That’s not the past it’s now. Slavery didn’t end in Africa with Africans as a majority. Slavery ended in America with African Americans as a minority. Black Americans were considered 3/5ths a person here. Brainwashed? Fuck yea with hundreds of years as a head start. It will take time to correct the wrongs of slavery. But we shouldn’t have to leave. MANY OF US LOVE THIS COUNTRY. We literally built it and If I remember correctly Americans aren’t quitters. We will fuss and brawl and figure it out. It incenses me when the Black American experience is minimized to “Get over it” and “Go back to Africa” How about America living up to what she says she is. So many of us.. Black White Brown want that for America. We want a more perfect union. Many... And I mean MANY Black Americans have risen above the racial struggles of this country but It shouldn’t be this Damn hard just because of melanated skin. Most of us DONT live the life AKON raps about. Most of us dont live the way the media and entertainment industry presents. I believe MOST Black Americans are simply AMERICANS! We love pie, we love innovation we love sports, we love our hobbies we love music Most of us LOVE OUR COUNTRY. We aren't afraid of Africa. We just want what we have here in the America your daddy brought you to, to be better.

But remember , only what's done for Christ and in CHRIST and through Christ and by CHRIST shall last. "For all flesh is grass and all the glory of man is as The flower of the fields and the grass withers and the flower thereof shall fade away" So what ever you may set out to do in this world , in This life do it for God and through Christ and for His kingdom and you will have treasures in heaven. Now that's an investment , that's an Eternal investment for yourself and those you seek to uplift from oppression and poverty and shame unto bright glory. And whatever you do, The Apostle Paul said, Do it all in The name of The Lord Jesus giving thanks To God by Him and do it heartily from the heart and you will be greatly rewarded, for ye serve The Lord CHRIST. To Vlad and Akon and all the rest of us. Amen.
