I was born in 1970, so I was privileged to witness the birth of rap and hip hop, and I was honored to take part in it.* I think Public Enemy, in particular, changed American culture at large so dramatically that they helped set the foundation for what would later make President Obama's election possible at the time. I don't think Chuck D's power and influence can be overstated. All of these guys are American treasures, and this was SO great to watch.

Man, I think it was between 1988 1989 it was Kid 'n Play, Salt & Pepper, De La soul, Slick Rick I can't remember who else was there but it was at Hampton Coliseum. Everybody killed the show everybody except for Slick. Rick he got there late and he was messing up and his DJ was messing. I think he was a little high and had a little bit too much to drink. That hurt me to my soul man they got booed off stage.. 🤯
