Showbiz tried to keep the suspension of belief for kids that the animatronics were real, but CEC accepted the fact that people knew they were robots and would joke along with it. I think both are fun, but it’s even funnier when they know what they are and are able to poke fun at it!

Meanwhile, Creative Engineering's whole thing was trying to bring Disney-quality animatronics to places that normally couldn't afford that level of quality, so the Rock-afire Explosion were written like they were actual performers. It's probably telling that Uncle Klunk was consistently written as being self-aware of his true nature. Y'know, the creepiest-looking member of the RAE.

It’s kinda hard to understand without context so I get that. They were pretending they were on a plane, and, at least back then, you weren’t supposed to get on a phone on a plane because it caused electronics to crash.
