Once again the full history/timeline of the Chuck E. Cheese’s in Burlington, MA August 4 1992: opened its doors as a Chuck E Cheese’s Pizza with a 2 stage with side curtains, the Chuck E animatronic was wearing the tuxedo and derby, Ceiling hung JVC CRT TV’s (that played the current showtape) in the game room, a ball crawl, and games and rides that CEC doesn’t have anymore. The first show ever played at Burlington was the Planes, Trains, and Automobiles show (July 1992) Sometime in the 90s: received the yellow sweater “Coach Chuck”/“ThumbChuck” exterior signage sign (* cap) November 2001: received the toddler zone About 2002: got rid of the ball crawl Summer 2002: the tuxedo and derby were replaced with the cool chuck outfit (blue t-shirt, khaki shorts, red cap with black brim) Late 2008: remodeled to Phase 4. The remodel knocked out the showroom wall(s), took down the balcony, painted several walls purple, replaced the dim lighting with brighter florescent supermarket lighting, removed the ceiling hung JVC CRT TV’s (that played the current showtape) in the game room, and replaced the record/album parody posters with posters of kids smiling. But they kept/retained the yellow sweater “Coach Chuck”/ThumbChuck” exterior signage (* cap) because the plaza owners were strict. Late 2011 Helen got a new mask and wig, and they received 2 new LG TV’s hanging from the ceiling (replacing the old JVC CRT TV’s that were installed sometime in the 90s) Late 2011 or Early 2012: the curtains were removed Early 2013: the khaki cool chuck shorts were replaced with the green avenger shorts September 2013: the black brimmed red cool cap was removed due to Chuck E’s new look Late 2015/Early 2016: the original screen between Chuck E and Helen was replaced with a modern LG flat screen TV 2016: received the play pass system June 26 2017: the store announced that they would close due to leasing issues July 16 2017: the store had it’s last day of operation. The final performance was Out of this World literally. They had everything out the next day Changes to the stage in unknowns years: the Munch’s Make Believe Band sign was removed from behind Munch to between him and Helen, by 2004 the side curtains were replaced with lift curtains, Jasper’s cow pattern shirt and bandana were replaced (the bandana was replaced with a Pasqually one), Pasqually’s apron was replaced with a modern one, and Pasqually’s drum sticks changed a few times. The Chuck E room ( the costume room) was originally in the merch closet but was moved to the kitchen storage room in 2011. You can now find the animatronics at the Springfield, MA location. Jasper still has his banjo (it’s the original pizza time banjo not fiberglass), Munch not longer has his cap, and Pasqually’s chef hat was restored to its original way.
