Not a single karate block works in Karate in a real fight. Not a single one. Not in competition either. They don't even try. I've never seen anyone even be able to try to block a punch.

That's because a block was never intended to be a defense. It's a strike just like a punch or kick delivered at a different angle. Circular rather than linear. The practice of blocks works on the same principle as kali. Practice hitting the stick--but in a real fight hit the person not the weapon.
