Thank you, Prof. Hunter for highlighting the plight of the housing situation of the students at Howard University!! I applaud their tenacity! Anything worth protesting for is worth exposing!! Who'd think our students would be treated this way at Howard University? The students should use ALL apparatus (legally) to bring attention to the apparent stalemate this has become since the University President appears unwilling/unable to repair this 'breach'!! To rephrase Rev. Jesse Jackson a 'student body' united will NEVER be defeated!! STAY STRONG, y'all!!💯

If the university president thinks the student housing conditions are acceptable than he needs to move into the university housing.

Real, actual journalism, hell yes. And much love for the supreme Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. He is the example to us all of true commitment, love and making it real by putting in the work.

I had no idea this was happening. My daughter went to Howard for a semester. I refused to pay 30k plus per year for those living conditions not to mention they were packing students in the dorms like sardines. 3 to a tiny room with bunk beds, no hot water in showers, dirty water, roaches, rodents etc.

The fact that leadership is willing to risk the health, wellbeing and lives of OUR CHILDREN & OUR FUTURE is enough for them to seek alternate employment/careers. Leading our future is NOT the best occupation for them!
@mrlaydback113 жыл бұрын
Others shouldn't lead others future. If the students want to make a statement, they should withdrawl. Howard is a business like all other schools. They'll learn when it hits their pockets.

I hope we all know that Howard has more than one residence hall. And not all the students are sleeping outside in a tent. Both parties hsve done s great job of talking to social media but not each other. What are the facts in this situation? Did they find mold in some spaces? What did they university do? Im tired of hearing about the alleged narratives when is this matter going to be resolved its getting cold and the break is near.

Why aren't people accompanying Rev. Jackson and Rev. Barber? What does it say about other, younger activists not showing up?
@lucyislight99493 жыл бұрын
Actually, a lot of alumni are coming out and supporting these brave young people--with food, toiletries, blankets, etc. And listening to the students and adding their voices in support!

Living in tents and lack of modern comforts is a good learning opportunity. A reality check on how to survive and thrive with less. Off grid living can be sustainable if you are prepared. Our infrastructure is looking shabby and an alternative way of approaching problems should be explored. Back to basics while fighting for what's yours!

Disgusting situation ;an educational institute ? I think not !🤑 I never trusted this university's business or values & my grandmother was a professor at another HBCU back in the day ! 😡 Are students from other HBCU's supporting Howard's students? i'm glad I decided to attend another college rather than even attempt to get stuck on symbolism !🤓

The president of HU and head of Facilities annd Housing needs to resign today. That university put those students health at risk.

The great thing about the Howard situation is we have a VP who went to Howard, and used that to build her black cred, even though she's faker than a $3 bill. Since she utilized her "black connection" , I'm sure she'll apply some political capital to get this egregious situation handled, amirite? *Crickets*
@estellabranson18873 жыл бұрын
That not the Vp's responsibility that is the parents and student who are paying in-state and out of state tuition to attend that university.
@SuperKenndog3 жыл бұрын
@@estellabranson1887 in that case, no need for her to have used her Howard connection, AKA, sister girl schtick during the election, amirite? Dems have no problem expending endless political capital for everybody but Black people. If anybody could bust some heads at Howard and get this issue fixed, it’s the VPOTUS, but this only further proves that she’s faker than a $3 bill because she’s been silent as a church mouse. A statement at the bare minimum. You have zero standards for elected officials. They work for us, not the other way around.

Ase' professor hunter all is in divine order thank you so much for answering the spiritual call kNubia is real our Knarrative is truth, there are no such things as coincidences we are in a spiritual battle that never ended the cold Civil War which is a fight for Humanity's understanding. A t-shirt of a side-by-side with you and Ida B Wells there's a beautiful striking resemblance.

Professor Karen, here are just my thoughts. Howard University was not always a predominately Black University. Its first students where White. Professor Karen do you think the movement is to shift the population back to White students? I am just asking with all the gentrification in DC.

no, I don't think that is the goal.

@@KarenHunterShow One more thing and then I will stop. The topic made me feel this way because historically everything Black people invest in and build eventually ends up belonging to White people or becoming dismantled, BET Entertainment, All the Black magazines, The Verzus, and more, I don't want to be an conspiracy notions, I don't want to see Howard University decline.
