I use One-Way Talon chuck with the small step jaws, only need an expansion hole about 3/4 inch so I can use smaller bit of left over woods. So many answers to the same problem. Choose your own comfort zone.

I went to the hardwood dealer yesterday looking for bargains and he had a whole section of burl maple- I looked at it for a second and he said your not looking for that,,,, it is "very expensive", I said you are right.

Mike, I just bought a Laguna 12/16 and the hand wheel on the tailstock is so small that I need a larger one to drill with. Do you have any suggestions?

Make one. It is not complicated. Or Google handwheel. You can find on Amazon too.
