There was a mass die off of these in 2020 due to no rain for over six months. They need a rain or two in the summer to keep the plants they eat alive. I found one totally emaciated and nursed it back to health. Normally, I don't remove anything from the wild but this one was on death's doorstep.

I got to try this with my bearded dragon, although she will just chase a mealworm in my hand for like 10 minutes lol

If it's for training ; (exercise) why do you feed him after you make him walk about a foot? he is getting more food than exercise. All bright colors catch their attention because they see it as a source of food. We have 18 chuckwallas.

Because exercise isn’t just to burn off food, it’s good for enrichment and can help him get strong and turn the fat into muscle

I found a baby chuckwalla in our swimming pool. He lost a few toes and wore down all the claws on his front legs so releasing him he would not have survived. I’ve had him for a year now. I recently found out that yellow Nerium oleander trees are poisonous to all animals and people. But my chuckwalla has ate the flowers several times has not shown any signs of poisoning. I’d be devastated if he died!! I just don’t understand why he has been able to eat them. An ideas?

Leave nature be. That is all I have to say. Yes, it is sad, but let nature take its course. You also need a permit to take wildlife and keep it as a pet.

Great that you saved it. Leave nature be would mean humans should never have invaded their space to begin with.

@@christianswildadventures5190first of all leave nature be is a bs statement for obvious reasons, secondary while I personally am experienced enough to know to call a wildlife shelter some don’t know that and that’s fine
