One of my biggest problem with the series is charles lee ray origin story. He went from cool slasher killer to a sex addict in seed of chucky to a weirdo now. Not saying he was never a weirdo but it was overshadowed by his fun personality and charm.

I agree. It's one thing to put gay characters in a show but it's quite another to make the entire show centered around it. They put way too much emphasis on LBGTQ to the point it's practically all the series is about. Chucky was never one to be attracted to males yet that's a new thing now too that he supposedly broadened his pallet. I mean what a pile of B.S. I never expected Chucky of all franchises to go woke and I have never been so disappointed in a series. This show was complete CRINGE!

I think the Chucky series started to go down after Bride of Chucky. It went from a cult classic horror movie, to a dark comedy and now it’s just gone off into Don Mancini projecting his own issues & politics into it… which usually kills a show / movie in my opinion.

Just finished watching the first 2 seasons. Words cannot describe how disappointed I am. This series is such an embarrassment. It's the tv show equivalent to "son of the mask". It neglected everything and everyone that drew us in as fans of the old movies, and instead they just placed the attention on a bunch of generic airheaded teenagers that serve no purpose other than to push their woke agenda. Calling this show garbage is an insult to garbage. And the really sad thing is I tried very hard to like this show. It had so much potential. Damn shame. Right now it's popular and critically aclaimed because it panders like the rest of modern-day hollywood, but because of that it's not gonna age well, and eventually everyone else is gonna see it for the embarrassment it is

I didn't know the show would be about teen drama. I thought it was about Nica trying to get away from Chucky and Tiffany somehow, maybe Andy would show up.. Wish I'd known before I bought the episodes, I'm really REALLY not interested in teen angst or teen love or teen anything. I wanted a murdering doll, his allies and victims.. Do they think Chucky is a better person or character now for being accepting of LGBTQ people? He's been shown to be a sexist, animal killer, child killer, domestic abuser etc. Is this the kind of ally you want?.. That doesn't make him more likable nor does it redeem him. He's still a monster, Charles Lee Ray has always been a monster.

A cult is defined as a group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or sinister. It’s not just the same guy, only duplicated. I actually enjoyed the first few episodes of the TV show but after that it kind of fell apart as they tried to shoehorn in multiple characters, who really didn't add anything to the story, and constant dumb decisions by the main cast and Chucky himself. The whole multiple Chucky's that was set up in Cult of Chucky never really made any sense and I was hoping they would try and forget about it for the series and just focus on the one Chucky and get back to what made the first three movies so good. With more than one Chucky wouldn't they all just fall out and try to kill each other? Or what about the scene near the end with Andy in the van with all the dolls. They all just sat in their boxes whilst Andy hid in the back? It makes no sense. The whole back story of Charles Lee Ray was a waste as well. In the original Child's Play he was clearly an oddball but the voodoo aspect was really interesting and it seems to have been totally put aside in favour of pointless scenes of him and a young Tiffany just going around killing random people. I love the first three movies, including the 3rd as like you say it shows a grown up Andy, who I thought was really well played by the new actor, and it put a twist on things as well as having some of the best Chucky lines of the entire franchise. It is unfairly criticised in my opinion. For the show the main character of Jake seemed to have the same expression throughout as if someone had broken wind in his face. About the only plus I really took from Series 1 was the design of Chucky. It was a vast improvement on the doll from Curse and Cult although the front of his hair should be short like in the first 3 movies.

Wow perfectly put, I almost have the same exact opinion. Like I said in the video Childs play 3 is a good film, that grows the character of Andy. This show started to get messy once they brought back the old characters, even though I'm not a fan of the new characters. Lexi is a bitch, Jakes makes weird faces, and Devin and jr are just kind of there. I love the doll design in the show, and don't know why it took so long for it to look good again. The multiple doll thing continues to make no sense, ruin the stakes and lure.

This franchise definitely peaked at Child’s Play 2 in my opinion. The third one wasn’t quite as good, but it was still a nice place to end everything. Each movie afterwards introduced some interesting ideas, but they’re immediately wasted. I think the biggest thing holding Chucky back is Don Mancini himself. Judging from a past interview, he seems really petty and insecure that his dad never accepted him for being gay, so he keeps inserting themes of bad father figures and LGBT into everything. If there’s anything planned after the TV series, I hope it’s better than what we’ve been getting so far.

And yet he didn't come up w the name "Chucky" nor his signature tagline, "Hi, I'm Chucky, wanna play?"...that was all John Lafia. And Tom Holland (the director) added the whole voodoo element and the serial killer Charles Lee Ray. Mancini wanted the doll to be the "manifestation of Andy's unconscious rage" essentially making Andy the killer via the doll.

Grew up watching chucky so nothing beats the first two. I think I've enjoyed all of the chucky movies except the 2019 remake, I had to stop watching it was terrible. The show isn't as good as the original obviously but I thought it was a fun watch. I waited till all the episodes were out to watch it and ended up watching it all in one sitting. There was a few things that made me cringe but it wasn't terrible in my opinion. Id give it a 6.5/10

Guess what? Season 3 bit worse. Not only did Tiffany escape accountability for the agony she inflicted on Nica, but she's also portrayed as the victim, overlooking the most egregious act-she literally amputated Nica's arms. And yet she gets to escape with a happy ending. And not only that, they completely sh*t on Nica even more. According to the ending she dies or is turned into a doll. Now Nica has to suffer. Because not matter what they just genuinely refuse to kill Jennifer Tilly. Furthermore, Chucky and Tiff get there happy ending while Jake, Devon and Lexi are trapped in a case stuff as dolls. This is a terrible way.

Not a surprise! This is the second time the show set up an interesting cliff hanger for the at the end of one season just to back track and wrap everything up in the first episode of the next season. Nica has no story or character at this point, but a punching bag for all the other characters shit on. Jennifer, Tilley character has been unbearable the last two movies and this entire show. They took any bad ass seductive traits away from Tiffany, as she continues to be nothing more than a cringey joke. This whole show is nothing but a cringey joke. I agree with you on cult, hell it may be my least favorite of the franchise, sure seed is probably the most egregious but at least I can enjoy it by laughing at how bad it is, with cult of Chucky there isn't any enjoyment to be had besides some cool kills. Never understood the hate for 3, I think the first 3 films of the franchise are great, I think Bride is the only one that pulled off the more comedic approach well. Man, I forgot all about the events that happened in Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky. All I remembered is that I hated them. I didn't even remember Andy Barkley being in that/those movie/s. So in the series when they talked about Andy torturing Chucky's head, I had no memory of the movie actually showing that. Now, about the series. For certain reasons, I won't complain about my first big gripe that makes me sick about the whole thing. So I'll start with my 2nd gripe. Jennifer Tilly. I HATED Bride of Chucky. And Seed of Chucky was even worse. They turned Chucky into a comical sex loving joke. I mean, a DOLL, being able to have SEX? And I'm not even gonna get started on the trans-gender (and stupid looking) son. I was really hoping they'd write off all of those horrible past movies with Chucky having a girlfriend and a son, so I cringed hard when I first saw Jennifer Tilly appear. I never liked her. And Chucky is more of an ass than ever before. Killing for absolutely no reason. When he killed that boy's mom (who already had cancer), that was IT for me. I now long to see Chucky killed forever. He SO deserves it. I still like the idea of a living, murderous doll. But man, the producers of these movies (and series) just doesn't know what they're doing. They keep repeating the same mistakes that made past movies suck.

I completely agree this entire series has become a gross, unfunny, convoluted joke. They need to get rid of all these bad movies and with nonsense story’s and get back to Chucky roots. Make the series horror again, make Chucky scary again

I liked Bride of Chucky, the idea of giving Chucky a partner in crime. Seed of Chucky was a bit of a step down, I like it continues with Chuckys kid, I don’t like the story or how meta it got with Jennifer Tilly since characters and the actors who play them exists in the same reality is a bit too odd for me. Curse of chucky was easily my most disliked in the franchise. Cult was interesting with the multiple Chuckys, everything else I easily forgot

Also, alcohol doesn't conduct electricity (episode 1). Could have been a funny moment, Chucky could have said, 'Damn, I thought that would have worked. Oh well, back to basics.' then kicked over a bucket of water or something. That was the first sign for me that this series was gonna be 'meh'.

Yes, I am so glad to see someone agrees! The first episode was so badly acted and over the top. I appreciate that the main character is gay and finding acceptance is a struggle of his, but the show completely kills any nuance this element could have had by making it the only thing any character can say about him. Like, we don't need the other characters to announce he is gay 24/7 to get that. I also was bored by the dad because, as you said, it's an over the top performance, and I love Billie Eilish, but forcing her songs into the moments that should have been more emotional just killed it form me. Awesome review!

Episode 1 was absolute garbage for me, as soon as i heard that trash pop music, i knew what i was in for. As with most horror franchises, the first few 2 or 3 films have the best stories and characters and they go steadily downhill from there. Take "A Nightmare on Elm Street" as an example, the first film and the third (forget the 2nd it's TRASH) are horror classics, Freddy Krueger is the most iconic villain on screen you've ever seen. But as with Child's Play, comedy takes center stage and it all just becomes ridiculous. I'm so sick of the whole LGBT agenda in film and TV already, I'm sick of Chucky's "non binary" kids and that whole plot, I'm sick of the gay main characters NOT BECAUSE THEY'RE GAY BUT BECAUSE THEY'RE BORING AS HELL! I just finished episode 6 and I honestly haven't found the TV series to be good either. I was a huge fan of the movies, especially the first 3, but the TV series is bad. The fact that chucky is freely roaming around the town in day and night but still hasn't been spotted on a single camera is a huge problem for me.. the lack of emotion from people who're being hunted by a killer doll and watching their families die is ridiculous.. Like Chucky killing his mother, Chucky about to kill Tiffany after having sex with her with her saying "do it" like it's all some sort of joke. Unrealistic and nobody would joke about somebody holding a real knife in front of their face. Death scenes look cheap compared to the movies, acting can get bad and cheesy, music is bad, a house gets on fire and none of the kids notice because they're listening to music with headphones and their eyes are closed, but they can't feel the sudden heat? It was just a plain bad show and to me it's at the very bottom from the Chucky franchise, down there with Seed.

i only just finished the last episode yesterday, this show has been an absolute mess from start to finish don mancini has no idea what he's doing. his head is so far up his own a** he had to give credit to himself at the end of the show through chucky talking about how he's some kind of amazing writer up there with the best. this last episode litreally contradicted curse of chucky with how charles lee ray got caught. it makes no sense, there's so much wrong with this show i could write multiple essays about it. the dialogue is some of the worst i've heard in tv history, i hate using this word but i have to. it's CRINGE to the max. the childs play remake wasn't perfect but it was leaps and bounds better than this abomination against humanity.

The amount of defenders/apologists this show has should be telling enough as to how the masses are starting to feel about it. We knew it'd be slower paced as a tv series than a movie, we were aware this wouldn't be an andy+kyle vs. possessed nica+tiffany series from early on. What we could not have known is how weak the acting would be, how pandering psa bs would be everywhere, that this gay love story with chucky in it doesn't work at all, and that we are going on episode 5 and are still waiting for the good characters to return. This show also has tried so hard to make us care about one-dimensional characters as if they have layers and no, they do not. Also to all the people who will start-if Don Mancini wanted to make a gay coming of age story, go for it, I probably would've given it a watch. Shoehorning it in for woke points on a show that should be about a parallel of a disturbed teen and Charles Lee Ray but really isn't at all is just another reason why this shit show is awful.

I only got through a few episodes of Season 1 and called it a day. Very disappointed. Sure the woke stuff was a little too much, but the writing and acting is atrocious. 1) Lexi starts out as a star of the show, sure she is evil, but she is interesting and I like the conflict she creates. Then a few episodes in, she completely changes into a supporting and useless character. She can at least act, what a waste. 2) Devin is a horrible character, not believable, bad actor, dull as paint. 3) Devin's mom police character is so poorly written for LE, it is mind blowing. 4) Junior has zero acting range and is also dull and boring. Jake was only good the first few episodes when he was picked on and an underdog figure. Then he goes downhill with Devin and when Lexi is tamed/spayed. 5) Junior's mom was a favorite character of mine, only to get annihilated. 6) The mayor is so over the top and cliched to the point of not being believed. 7) Chucky, listen pal, I want to see you commit the acts of horrible carnage. Quit trying to get others to do your bidding for you. 8) Too many other bullet points to list. This show put me in a bad mood because I had just terminated the series "1883" after 4 episodes because it did a bait and switch too in that it became mostly about teen drama.

I do have to admit. While i love seeing inckusivity and acceptance in media and stories i do find it somewhat annoying that seemingly every single story told now feels the need to include a prominent LGBT character. I didn't really feel like it was TOO forced or weird at first because we do have to remember that it is possible to have a side plot that can be about his sexuality. Like we gotta remember that while we are so used to being on the look out for these types of characters to be done right and respectfully and dislike their sexual orientation being so heavily focused on, it is still possible to have that be the focus and be done good so long as the writers didn't do it out of some weird feeling of obligation and actually just wanted to write that kind of story. The part that got me to cringe and be like um.. okay what are we doing here...? Is the finale when Jakes like "That's my boyfriend you're talking about" or something like that to Chucky. Like Come on man was that really necessary? Lmao.
