My buddy did a similar design and he ended up getting a bunch of expanding foam (fire retarder type) and he filled his barrels. The idea was if he took water on it would still float. Ended up puncturing his barrels and it worked. It listed pretty hard but it stayed up to be able to get home. He rolled some aluminum shapes on the front and back and that helped with drag in the water and we gained a little speed as well.... it looked like shit but it def worked for what we were using it for... back in the creeks to get to the crappie :) Love the vids man! Keep up the good work

That's nice Information about boat building woods ; what the treated lumber is = yellow pine,which is substitute for oak,was used wood ship framing. Curious thing has come to pass,is the availability of white spruce...which is deemed a boat Building wood..in the classic books. That is thoes white 2×4 lumber you see...at home depot...ect. Canada has put it on the market ,it at one time it was not so available. White Spruce is quite strong and light, it's knots aren't huge like Douglas fir...( which can also be used for framing,but needs gusset s..ect careful const.) This is a good demonstration of the power of bouyancy, that deck must weigh 200 lbs ...pluss people and motor fuel.....

That was cool info and thanks for watching.
@TheSinisterElf5 жыл бұрын
you should make the front of the barrels more hydrodynamic , and I suggest wrapping the strapping around the 2x4 s .the screws will never stay tight , if you wrapped the strapping around the board then bolted it to its self on one side then on the other side you could use a turnbuckle , that way you could tighten or loosen as needed

Good suggestion. I have a boat seat already on getting ready for update #5, coming soon. I also found a bimini top and some rod holder today. Thanks for watching.

Hey cool boat but u should think about putting not sure what to call it on the frt of the barrels make it so that it goes through the water with very little resistance 3 pieces of sheet metal one on each side of the barrel and one on the bottom so it slides through the water..like a real pontoon boat sorry like one u would buy from a boat store
@chud3276 жыл бұрын
I have been brainstorming on how to do exactly what you are talking about, even when the boat was just in my head. I will see what I can come up with. Thanks for watching.
@bigcountry50456 жыл бұрын
you need to make some cones to go on the front of the barrels so it goes through the water easy'er, and the motor wouldnt have to work so hard ... and a solar battery charger . 1

two super suggestions!!! The first one is already done, you can see it on my Facebook (chud Channel) or wait for the video on Tuesday... Thanks so much for watching.

chud327 i am watching all another parts.. how many parts are them ?? ... i have a question:: is in your city you must have license to drive this boat ???? in my city (cairo)it is difficult to take license😳
@chud3276 жыл бұрын
There are 4 parts with a 5 coming out in a couple of weeks. Yes the boat has to be registered and have a title to use it with an engine on it. It was super easy and cheap here.

Hey chud327....was just wondering what in the world is wrong with the water...it looked nasty? I enjoy your videos and sub to your channel. I really enjoy it when you were burning rubber on the good ole truck...you ever do that anymore?
@chud3276 жыл бұрын
The water is dark for the leaves that fall in it. Tannic acid, reminds me of tea. Thanks so much for subbing and for watching. I will try to do another burn out soon. BTW, I just changed the tires on that truck, video coming soon.

how much weight could it hold?
@chud3276 жыл бұрын
They say each barrel will hold 400 pounds. I have had 5 people on there several times with no problem. I would know exactly what it will hold, but it does great. Thanks for watching.
@joelmccall56656 жыл бұрын
@@chud327 me and a mate are building one, we're putting 16 barrels on it, you recon that enough to hold a small cabin with two mattresses on it
@chud3276 жыл бұрын
16X400 (6400 pounds) should hold a "small" cabin. I would try to build the cabin as light as possible.

is that a lower unit from a white merc?...i know a few johnsons were white....had a 6 cylinder white merc in the 90s...59 model mark 75A direct drive...u actual ran it backwards 4 reverse and it worked fine...everybody's scared stiff of those old direct drives with no neutral, but they worked well..powerful...made 66 horses..idle down so lo it just barely moved the glastron 15.5 ft v-156...most versatile boat i ever had.....but no worries..it was very predictable
@Imnotyourdoormat6 жыл бұрын
most people are terrified of outboard motors like their radioactive or somethin....like a man that can frankensteinem 2gether and make em work...u and ur boys wouldnt be stranded in the desert...known grown men who literally couldnt change a flat...good 2 know there are still a few gear heads left...kutgw...
@Imnotyourdoormat6 жыл бұрын
white?..could even be from a chrysler...guess it around 15 to 25 hp family...somethin tells me u may have seen them old direct drives haha/lol...u really could idle em down where it moved the boat like a trolling motor...and how easy is that?....probbly get the biggest kick outta ur "powertrain" combinations...kutgw!!!
