There's an even better spot than Skyarrow Bridge for hatching, and that's the main hub for the Battle Subway. It's a perfect circle and NPCs won't get in the way, meaning you just hold up or down to hatch your egg.

For some reason I didn't trust NPCs to not block in the Subway hub, so back in the day I just hatched eggs on the route outside the Day Care. I didn't mind having to press left/right occasionally, and you save some time having to fly back-forth from the Day Care to pick up new eggs.

One thing I will say about scarlet and violet is that since you can breed pokemon almost anywhere in the game the developers should add egg groups to the pokedex so it keeping track of them is easier for people who breed in game

For reference, Jade is of the bug egg group. This is why she can breed with Lasagna, who is obviously of the bug egg group, along with the mineral egg group. Harmony is of the flying egg group. Which means... she can breed with the HM slave. (I legit forgot his name. I think it was Strutly?) For everyone else. Pignati is the field egg group, which is basically the generic mammal beast group. Of which Wailord is also in for some reason. Aiden is also of the field egg group. Sadly, both him and Pignati are pokemon with 87.5% male ratios. This is also why female eevees and starter mons are so valuable. And McFly is the human-like egg group. Aka the one with all the mon's that get probably the most rule 34. Also has a 75% male to female ratio. So he has 3 different compatibilities, though one of them is locked out due to sausage fest on both sides. Another compatibility is considering the hm slave as part of the team.

Granted, there's some breeding pairs in Pokemon that aren't so obvious, like Gardevoir being in the same group as Muk (until very late gens gave it Human-Like), Diglett and Wailord (Wailord's presumably in Field because whales are mammals) and, hilariously, Zangoose and Seviper. (Somewhere in the Pokemon world, there's a Romeo and Juliet adaptation based on those species...)

Weighing in on Emile's comment about card games, the golden example of early cards being good years later is also Pot of Greed. It's a simple ability with 3 words "Draw 2 cards" and that simple ability has had it sitting on the banlist for more than 20 years at this point.

I actually know someone who's favourite Pokemon is Unown, specifically Unown-C because it was the first form(e) he encountered in Crystal and recalled being so scared by it that he didn't touch the game for 2 weeks. Recently for me it’s been the applin line, it was already my favorite dragon type cause it’s based off a pun, and I always thought applin was adorable but didn’t really like either of its original evolutions. Then along comes dipplin keeping applin’s cuteness and then hydrapple which is just a really good design. Somehow they made a wyrm in an apple cool, plus the Pokédex pun syrpents is just gold.

Dunsparce was my favorite Pokemon for the longest time. It getting an evolution in gen 9 that was just Dunsparce But More made me unbelievably happy, even if other people were underwhelmed by it. But now, thanks to a romhack called Crystal Legacy, I think Lanturn is very close to dethroning my old favorite. I only picked up Chinchou for type coverage, but it ended up being the MVP of my team. Now I wish the Nefarious Anglerfish got more love.

it makes me extremely happy that jade and lasagna are compatible you have no idea ever since lasagna became a member of the team i've had a headcanon that he feels a bit insignificant compared to the rest of the team. pignati and mcfly are best bros, aidan is. well. aidan...and jade and harmony can go fly off and do whatever they want. lasagna joined the team last, he's got a massive shell that makes him slower than everyone, but without it he's the smallest guy on the team. i think jade would pick up on his insecurities and say "nope, nobody on the team is sad on my watch" and gifts him increasingly bigger rocks as they get closer. one day she drops a MASSIVE boulder in front of blaise's house, and while lasagna is positively smitten, blaise is just thinking "how in the world am i going to explain this to mom..."

Little note about what Chugga said regarding Iron Valiant: It indeed can learn Skill Swap, but Quark Drive (and its Scarlet Paradox counterpart Protosynthesis) is unaffected by Skill Swap. Meaning Iron Valiant can learn a move that it will never under any circumstance be able to use! You want a good pokemon for catching things? Breloom. Technician boosted False Swipe, and access to both Spore moves for your choice of Sleep or Paralysis.

I have a small theory about the anime where my main evidence is related to breeding. Remember the Stoutland that cared for the Litten that Ash eventually caught? I don’t think he’s just Litten’s adoptive father, I think he’s biological father too. They’re both in the Field egg group, meaning that they can breed, and it’s the mother that passes on the species. The fact that Stoutland mentored Litten on how to use Fire Fang and Fire Blast is a little reminiscent of how the dad passes on the moveset

One thing I never see mentioned is that putting a pokemon in the day care can get rid of HM moves off pokemon very easily but you have to know the level up movesets. Always put hm moves in the top spot so they forget them first. Funny daycare story so I was doing a pokemon diamond wedlocke and while hatching the riolu egg I put a pikachu and roselia in the daycare just so they were gaining a few levels for them. Once the riolu hatched I was shocked to see roselia and pikachu made a egg. Didn't know they were compatible lol. The Roselia that came out of the egg had double team which it got from pikachu

Breeding episode reminded me that when I first played Pokemon XD, I accidentally left a Shadow Snorunt in the Agate Village daycare until it gained enough EXP to be ready to evolve. Pretty sure it was a 20+ level gain

I've messed around with Gen 5's Daycare quite a bit between all the breeding I needed to do for my National Dex as well as a handful of Masuda hunts. I hunted my Shiny Scolipede this way because I got so sick of phasing for it in Lostlorn Forest and my Shiny Reuniclus to use in the PWT, which I named Jelly Baby, it's one of my favourite pokemon I own now. I plan to make that one a Ribbon Master soon too. Honestly, in my experience Unovas Daycare is pretty high up there as far as they go. A good location and the Hatching Pass Power that you can get for 30 Minutes basically for free if you have a second game. Nothing beats ORAS' Daycare cause of that infinite loop though.

Theres acwierd amount of breeding you need to do in this game to complete thd regional pokedex. And since completing it (at least by seeing every pokemon) actually gets you something un this game, you are encouraged to do it. I did it in my dirst playthtough, and this is my reminder that i need to do it in thox one as well. Joy. I have to wonder how Unova's trainer schools are doing now that we know about the new, far more impressive academy located just off the coast...

There’s something interesting about breeding that used to be vital information prior to Gen 8. The destiny knot, an item where if the user is infatuated by an opponent’s ability or through attract, can also pass on the parent’s highest IVs. I can’t remember if I learned this online or through my own experiment but the training items/weights you get from the battle train have a very high chance of passing down the corresponding stat IV. IVs are usually evened out by the parents but they aren’t guaranteed to be better Pokémon. The general idea for competitive breeding is to give the mother Pokémon the ever stone, give the father the destiny knot, and keep breeding.

Chugga really taking The Shippening upon himself in this episode. So funny story I have with Ditto breeding. When I did a Professor's Oak challenge in Pokemon Silver I put a Ditto in daycare for getting all the baby Pokemon. And during the playthrough, I never removed it from daycare so I could be suprised what level it was at the end. And after beating Red and being done, it had gone from Level 10 to Level 56! Which was around the level of the mons I had used to beat Red.
