For the Snag Machine thing, I think it gives you the ability to take a Pokemon that already belongs to a Pokeball and put it into another Pokeball, because I don't think that's initially possible. Rui just prevents you from snagging a regular Pokemon, because "NO!".
@Bardguy56239 жыл бұрын
My theory about the snag machine is this: The trainer blocks the ball, but the hand goes around the trainer, to the shadow Pokemon, (because the shadow Pokemon are the only Pokemon affected by the snag machine) and the hand turns the Pokemon into that flash of light, the hand takes whatever the light is (I don't know, data?) back to the Pokeball, and that's the process. Basically, the trainer blocks the ball, but the hand extends the ball's range past the trainer, (maybe through the trainer, as the hand seems almost holographic) and to the target.
@spencerbowden29794 жыл бұрын
From what I understand it’s impossible to catch a Pokémon that is registered to a pokeball. There has been a case in the anime where Dawn tried to catch pikachu and the ball let him go. Dawn immediately said “that means you have an owner”. The snag machine seems to have the ability to nullify whatever the poke balls do to keep them from being caught.

i think the snag machine is less holding the trainer back and more grabbing the pokemon before they can block it. because as the hand comes out of the ball, its likely that it pulls it in instead of the ball fully reaching it, like a modified 'return beam' that you see balls produce in the anime

First off, I believe the technical lore is that you can catch trainer pokemon with your P-balls. However, unless given up willingly, the trainer I.D. # will not allow you to transfer it to your ownership. Thus making it so you cannot use it in any official battles. As you can only use registered pokemon for things like gyms. Also, the PC will alert authorities to your action. This is more of the real life/anime reason. For the games, they just have the trainer block to ball to prevent you from doing something that would get your character arrested in the games. The snag machine however, erases the former trainer ID and replaces it with your own. Now for the people in the stadium. I agree that the vast majority of them were there before you however, you must not count any that would be employed by the bad guys as they would not count as visitors. That means you must take out any bosses, peons, and guards at a minimum. thus making it even more realistic that you could be the 1000th visitor.
@derpofnerf66735 жыл бұрын
That is likely true because when you succeed in snagging a shadow Pokémon the trainers I'd is erased from the pokemon's poke ball at first, but purifiy a shadow Pokémon your trainer I'd is added to replace it. Very likely the hand is to make the ball still reach the Pokémon anyway.

In Pokemon Origins, which is based off the games, the Pokeball just flat out didn't work, so idk why the games have the trainer blocking the ball. Maybe the trainers just aren't aware that they won't work anyway? The Snag Machine likely does overwrite the ID info, but Shadow Pokemon seem unable to even have ID info, as it doesn't appear at all until the Pokemon is purified.

Let's see...choosing to play by the luck of what you get as opposed to resetting the game to get good natures on your Pokemon, it seems like the *fun* way to play. It isn't a serious competition, so why put so much effort into catching the pokemon with "perfect" natures, when that doesn't have much of an effect on the game itself?

The nice thing about rewatching this series is being able to go back and actually see what natures these Pokémon had. And sure enough, the only ones who had good natures were Espeon, who had a serious nature, that didn't buff or nerf anything, Quagsire, who had sassy like Typhlosion, which raised special defense and lowered speed, and I guess Misdreavus, who had a mild nature, which buffed it's special attack but hurt its defense. I believe Forretress had a careful nature, which raised its special defense and lowered its special attack, which isn't horrible, but out of all of them, Granbull easily got the worst one: Bold, raised defense and lowered attack.

deadmadnessguy I do know that in the sequel the plot that they where original going to do was that Wes did it so he could make his own evil organization from ciphers ashes. Learning from ciphers mistakes and how someone could possibly destroy an organization. He would become more successful then cipher ever could. It would then be up the the antagonist in the sequel to put him in his place. However I do not know if this was there intention from the start of the series or if this was an after thought that did not make the cut. Either way I wish they had went with it. It would have made such a great twist and given an already great character so much more depth.

My personal headcanon has - since I first noticed, at least - always been that he's not actually a good guy. I've always thought of it as trainers blocking the ball out of courtesy to their Pokemon rather than fear of it working. I imagine that a normal ball would refuse to capture a Pokemon with an OT number, but a Snag Ball would have this restriction disabled, possibly with added functions to overwrite the old OT number with your own. This would make it hard to prove that a Pokemon was stolen unless there were witnesses.
