I used to buy a dough bait called Mr. Catfish and it was fantastic. I haven't been able to find it anymore and since then I haven't really tried any other stink baits except for the magic bait but I never caught anything with it

To compare baits maybe alternate baits on the same trot line too make sure one wasn't just placed it a better hole.

I got raped by turtles using the chicken liver chum bait in a local lake. All of them were softshell turtles. I'm still planning to use it in a river in the future. Do you have the same issue? I made the bait and had alot of the liver/sardine slushy left over, so I put it in ice trays over night. I used the ice cubes to chum the area I was fishing. Maybe the high amount of chum attracted too many turtles....

Huntin' with Hattaway If there are alot of turtles in the lake, floating chum will attract lots of them. Try chumming with soured wheat for chum instead.

Marty Mac Thank you Marty! The Rio Grande is filled with catfish, crappie, white bass, large mouth, small mouth, walleye, carp, and sunfish. I mainly target catfish just because they are my favorite species to catch.
