The stat interactions between Automaton, Gravity Lapse, and Vol’jin are too complex for my brain.

Its simple lets say you have 6/7 automaton since it starts out as a 1/2 it got +5+5 stats, now we play gravity laps, since its a 6/7 it will become a 6/6 by its base stats, now since it isnt a 1/2 by its base it will gain the +5+5 from its aura effect using its new 6/6 base stats making it an 11/11. TLDR: automatons gain stats equal to the amount they have been buffed by.

The reason gravity lapse works the way it does is because the automaton effect is an aura not a buff, similar to murloc warleader and southsea captain.

Very fun deck to watch and to play. Thanks Chump. I'm currently 1-0 for 100% WR. Also, Bob hit Vol-jin (ugh), but later in the game I had a few pretty decent sized Autos and just triple Vol'jined 2 of them making them enormous! Hilarious!!

if you have a 3/4 automatons and use gravity lapse it sets it to 3/3 but automaton still has the aura (+2/2) so it will become a 5/5

​@@FluxFreeman A little differently phrased 1. Automatons have an aura that ALWAYS (excluding Silence obviously) makes sure they have +1/1 for each other Automaton that's been played that game 2. Because this is a constant effect if an Automaton has its stats reduced the aura effect will still apply without the stats of the aura increase being altered So effectively Automaton has 3/4 in stats (1/2 from base stats and +2/2 from aura) Gravity Lapse looks at the 3 attack of the Automaton, goes: "Okay, this is the lower one, i'll set the attack and health to 3 then!" Gravity Lapse has set the attack and health of the Automaton to 3/3 Automaton's aura effect keeps applying, gives +2/2 for a total final stats of 5/5 Sorry if this still isn't clear

I think you are misremembering Celestial Projectionist, which only gives you 1 temporary copy. I assume that he's not running it because it's situational (doesn't work if your board is empty) and expensive (slows the mana curve) as well as interferes with Bob and Bird Watching. Best to keep the deck down to as little minions as possible to guarantee good draws even on dead boards.

I never understood the Interaction between aura buffs and swapping stats in Hearthstone. Looks to me like a bug they never fixed.

I am pretty sure this was always the case. For example, a minion has 3/3 stats, and its attack is increased by 2 by flametongue totem, so it has 5/3. Then you use alchemist (battlectry: Switch minions attack and health) setting your 5/3 to 3/5 stats. After that flametongue is still on the board, buffing your minion to 5/5

Whats so complex about it? Automatons are always 1/2+ the stats they get. So if a 6/7 (1/2+5/5) automatons gete gravity lapsed it becomes 11/11 (6/6+5/5). Its how it worked since vanilla with stormwind chsmpion.

@@roohni2226 "Complex" and "counter intuitive" aren't the same thing. I understand how it works and I know that it works that way since I've already seen it. The thing is, you most likely won't guess how it works being a new player looking at the cards. When you play an effect reading "swap attack and health of a minion" on a 3/4, you'd usually assume it to be a 4/3 afterwards, wouldn't you? Edit: Just looked back at my original comment and realized I myself did not make myself clear by writing "understood". My bad.

Can someone explain how the bots get buffed when swapping stats? I don't understand how that's possible

The minions count as 1/2 that has a stackable token of +1/+1 for each one you've summoned. When you change stats, it takes the current stats which includes buffed stats (for example 10/10) and applies it as "base stats". So the minion goes from being a 1/2 to a 10/10 base. Then the tokens get applied on the 10/10 base. aka: if you have a 1/2 with 3 tokens -> the stats show 4/5. Swap makes it a 4/5 base stats with 3 tokens -> so minion now shows 7/8. Vol'jin can do this for two automatons, Gravity Lapse does this for the entire board at the same time; every time you do it, it increases the base stats further making the minions stronger (note that this only affects the minions on board, automatons in hand are still 1/2 base stats + x tokens).

Every class got a "Tourist" card that allowed them to play another class' Perils in Paradise cards. If you put the Priest card/Hunter Tourist Chillin' Vol'jin into your deck you can use Hunter cards from that expansion such as the parrot. Essentially every card that expansion was duel class but with 1 extra step. The first time a card is from another class the Tourist pops up on the side to indicate where it came from
