Flying whales, The art of dying, the gift of guilt, space time, From Mars, to sirius are all bangers you gotta check out. If you listen to from mars or to sirius listen to them back to back, as they transition directly into each other on the album.

I discovered this band late. This band is full of hooks!! Very heavy and progressive in their own way. Probably my favorite real heavy bands. You’ll notice they’ve been around for quite sometime but only recently are getting more attention. Their latest album is more accessible and less heavy than their past stuff. Their older stuff is along the lines of death metal and is absolutely brilliant! Supposed to have a new album this year 🤞🏼! And Mario (their drummer)might just be the best drummer in metal right now!!! Please keep doing more Gojira. My suggestion is esoteric surgery or toxic garbage island.

Gojira can almost sound simplistic if you don’t appreciate how extremely difficult each and every part is because they tend to draw out riffs for many bars, if you don’t listen to the constant subtle shifts and lead work you might think they are just drilling. The brilliance is actually how they smoothly under the surface play an evolving roiling song

Your reaction says it all.. and it’s worth your time to go check out the lyrics to this song. COMPLETELY positive, about opening one’s heart, and finding that the heaviest matter in the universe is love. Not what you expect, based on the brutality of the music.
@OroraMonroe3 жыл бұрын
Sorry but no. Love is a beautiful thing but the opening lyric is... "Lie awake, I cannot move my arms and legs I'm paralyzed"..... This song is about astral projection or astral travel. He was in the phase of sleep paralysis prior to leaving the body. The Heaviest Matter is what keeps your soul inside of your body.. Their studio in New York named The Silver Cord is what tethers the soul to the body so you will always snap back into your body after leaving it I think you should read the lyrics again. ... The song Flying Whales is about what happened after Joe separated from the body. The From Mars to Sirius album is very Esoteric. Love is an aspect of this process but not what this song is about.
@thoronthol11753 жыл бұрын
@@OroraMonroe First, tone. Please try to be slightly yielding when dealing with music, which is a form of expression, which is subjective of course. Flatly telling me I’m wrong is a bit out of line.. like telling me that my interpretation of a painting is wrong. So, yes. Sleep paralysis. Yes, astral projection. Yes, the silver cord. I get it, and understand the mode of his journey, and love the telling of it. But the song isn’t strictly *about* astral projection, to me.. it’s about what is found through the experience (in my humble opinion). Check out the last verse... ‘Here in the center stands the light of love that never can be touched..’... in other words - love - the heaviest matter of the universe. Just one poor soul’s interpretation of Gojira’s art. Because it is subjective, I am right, and so are you. Whatever is happening ‘objectively’ ceases to matter as soon as any work of art is released into the public domain for interpretation. Even if Joe told me to my face that the heaviest matter of the universe (in this song) had nothing to do with love, I’d say ‘too late brother’.

Just so you know, Gojira is known to be very tight live, and i must say that 80% of their discography sounds much better live than studio. I don’t why, but studio they sound a bit dull, over processed to me, at least their latest two. They have very specific concerts where they absolutely shine. Wisdom comes (live Brixton Academy) Gojira Lizard Skin - Vieilles Charrues Clone (Studio) Ocean planet (Live Rio) A Sight to Behold (Live Vieilles Charrues) Blow me away you (Studio & The link Alive) Love (Live Rio) Embrace the world The link alive) heavy drumming in this one Oroborus (eurockeenes concert) Art of Dying (Live Vieilles Charrues) Indians (Live Vieilles Charrues) My last creation (studio) Gift of guilt live at Brixton academy In the Forest Link Alive I’d recommend to start of with Clone (studio version is the best for this one) if you want to continue the heavy route with them, otherwise gift of guilt (Brixton academy) and art of dying ( Vieiiles charrues concert) up next! Cheers!
