My room was right above the Nick. Still remember the nightly guard mount and the Officer of Guard coming up from the BOQ. You could hear his spurs on the cobblestones. The Medical clinic was across the street. Some of the streets changed with new buildings. At 11 every morning the QRIH sent out trumpeters in front of RHQ, and they turned toward England and saluted the Queen. The movie theatre was usually packed for Alf Garnet (Britain’s Robin Williams). And it was an easy walk to downtown. Yes the 45 Medium Regiment was there and I was in the 15th USAFAD. Last memory: fish n chips in the 45 cookhouse on Sunday nights.

@@minno234 I was there from1973 to July 1975. My OC was a guy named Dullaghan who drove an E type. He was succeeded by a Joe Norbert who lived in the BOQ.I only knew him for about a month before I left for the University.I later Commanded my own units around the world.

Shame , I thought the RE would stay there and keep it open. First posting, QRIH 1977 :) I think the first pic shown here is the Guardroom - from where we used to phone home - and IIRC we were next door to the RA (45?) and Canadians. Those WW2 German-built barracks were pretty good. My room was over the QM's Dept overlooking the Green where the QRIH Regt Band would march up and down. Happy memories, also of the 1970s City Club and the Paderborn Libori, for anyone who remembers them.

I arrived 1977 too. Fresh from ACC training college to 45 RA in August 77. A fellow cook, and room mate of mine from training went to QRIH at the same time, Mick Bull. Seen him a few times before 45RA moved on to Hohne in 1978. Great times in Paderborn at the London Pub which apparently is converted to flats now. Joined 45RA on a family posting, my brother was a married pad with quarters in Elsen Heide. Great 12 months though in Paderborn, Would love to go back one day. Remember we all got pissed at a beer festival type event, Liborifest which apparently still runs every July. Brought many memories back this video, Thanks. Bill Turnbull ex ACC Paderborn 77-78.
