The Catholic Church has lots of "legal expenses" for the defense, relocation & PR for abusive clergy. meanwhile.. the local Diocese has asked that Church fees come from Funeral Homes, rather than family..they think we are their free A/R service. Lately the Catholic Cemeteries have amended 40-year old contracts to add "additional rights of burial" fees on top of usual fees, for adding urns, for example, even though they touted the ability to place 2 or more urns over each casket when they sold the grave. Also added a "delivery fee" for the delivery of the vaults they require. the best part, is that they won't add that fee to their "opening fees"- Instead they bill the vault co, who bills us, who charges the family.. WTF? they have piles of tax-free cash & property laying around.. why do they need interest free loans from local funeral directors? Oh yeah.. Altar Boy Fund.

I like what Dennis Miller said about the Catholic Church, that there should be a Catholic escrow account set up for tithes and donations, so they get their hands on our money when they get their hands off our kids.

Supporting a loved one hoping that their crime won't define who they are is not analogous to throwing money at a church so they can avoid punishment and continue abusing kids

I wrote a letter of apology to Vietnam for being there in 1969 and as an army soldier I was complicit in supporting a government at war that had no moral excuse for being in. Yes - being a member of a corrupt organization makes us corrupt also

We don't need to go to Church to find out about God. We have the internet which has thousands of sermons. And we can watch them without having to donate !

according to the bible texts, christians therefore should believe that Jesus was a criminal against the state by committing crimes that the state clearly had in place in which Jesus blatantly broke those laws and was a criminal and punished by the laws at that time. so therefore Jesus was not a sinless sacrifice for the sins of christians.

Wrong..Pilate did not find Jesus guilty of contravening any Roman law.

...however, Tacitus and Josephus record that a Jesus was executed for crime against the Roman state, which is at total odds with scriptural account.

@@blarglemantheskeptic ..I find it highly unlikely ly that Pilate a Roman prefect of Judea would release a convicted insurrectionist slated for crucifixion (Barabbas) and put in his place an innocent man...a laughable absurd account by Christians.

...hence why I'm more inclined to believe Tacitus and Josephus than some illogical account by anonymous gospel authors.
@r0ky_M3 жыл бұрын
@@blarglemantheskeptic yes Josephus does seem to have some Christian interpolation, but other parts of Josephus like Tacitus are at odds with the account in scripture..IMO those two identifiable non Christian authors outweigh anonymous Christian gospel authors...I'd say the offshoot Jesus cult twisted the narrative to make it look like they killed an innocent man.

You can report bad actions to your superiors in the military, because you are pretty much property. You are an individual in society and can stop going to a church that is evil. If you continue to go you are complicit in the actions and a moron if you think otherwise.

Wow! The show was really different back then. Matt was listening to the caller a lot more, even when he derailed the conversation. The new Matt would have interrupted with 'I DON'T CARE THAT YOU SUPPORT AND LOVE THE CHURCH, I ASKED WHYYYY!'. I guess at some point listening to the same dumb arguments over and over again voids you of any kind of patience.

I think you would want to try keep the conversation where it should be if you been derailed constantly for 16 years on a show with limited time to air :p
