Good message. Also, don't forget that Paul said he was the worst sinner of all and he still preached the Gospel.

God mercifully changed his name from Saul which must have given him great comfort that the old person passed away...
@graceclark348126 күн бұрын
@misswinnie, indeed. The old person has passed away. Sometimes, people don't understand the consequences of the life you lived follow you even after you're saved. Paul, even though he was saved I'm sure he dealt with a lot of people who were angry and grief stricken with the evil sins he committed as a pharisee. He got a lot of people killed, I imagine he encountered people all the time that did not want to hear what he had to say because he killed their families. Sometimes, even though you get saved there are still consequences for the sins you do.

Pastor...Thank you for addressing this matter. My daughter and her husband attend Gateway. I think the sermon on Biblical justice by Steve Cioccolanti addresses the recent scandals, including Robert Morris, in a thoughtful way.
How about you make a pact with your members to get the police involved immediately whenever abuse is present! Make a pledge to your members and your community to involve the police immediately in these matters.

Jackson is one of the few pastors that will actually address the church scandals. I will say, there are many people that are in church leadership that should not be. Paul had very strict regulations for church leadership, and many churches are not following it. They're not watching their young and old men, seeing how they behave with young women.

Could we see prophesy being fulfilled in a triger point to the falling away? Also the truths being revealed? Pray for our leaders as sometimes we are weak in moments of temptations. Pray for those helpless victims. Lord, we need you now.

David-a Man after God’s heart. A perfect God chooses imperfect people. This is NOT to say what these pastors have done is acceptable!!

David lived with a repentant, contrite heart.
@spring984Ай бұрын
@@misswinnie4.8That’s true. My point is God can use sinful people. I’m not to say whether these men who have fallen are unrepentant. I am just saying we don’t need to judge these fallen people. Yes, judge what they did! My comment aligns with what Jackson is saying.
@graceclark348126 күн бұрын
Spring, I completely agree. We have to find a balance between realizing there is no perfect person, and holding people accountable. First and second timothy, Paul warned the church repeatedly on how to choose church leaders. And unfortunately, I think a lot of churches have ignored Paul's instructions. I think the church gets dazzled by someone who they think is good on paper, and who appears to be good on paper. But they don't realize the secret sins the person is hiding. A lot of the church leaders they end up choosing had red flags all over the place, that the church ignored. There are some major problems within the church community. They have been tolerant of many sinful attitudes in their leadership.

Pastors are still fallen men. People should stop putting them on a pedestal. It is always a thing to give popular pastors absolute power and then wonder why the fall. Absolute power corrupts absolutely and it doesn't matter the situation.

Pastor Jackson, I am a faithful member of your church. Consistently showing up every Wednesday and Sunday (I don’t plan on stopping), but Robert Morris was NOT fit to be behind that pulpit even if he didn’t do such a heinous thing. I do hope he truly repents.

It’s God’s teaching that leads us through this… Pastor is talking to his church, because we need to be prepared… God will deal with the men who have fallen

Phillipines talks about people having different motives to preach. We have a good preacher at my church. I went to the Sheridan church school we had all good preachers, there too. So sad to see men and women fall. Seems like some kind of judgemental began at the top with JS then TBN and is moving more and more local...

But you've been encouraging the celebrity worship by constantly having the various celebrities speak at your church. People come to listen to those people, with God's message being relegated to mere serendipity. YOU, Pastor, need to lead the way in living up to this video message and STOP elevating the celebrity worship.
@ginabanks8594Ай бұрын
The church invites people of faith to share their testimonies and some happen to be / you may consider celebrities. God gets all the glory and No one is worshiping anyone except for worshipping Jesus. I’ve seen many of the people invited by Sheridan at other venues and they are good, humble and kind people who just want to help others. For example, Tim Tibow desperately wants to save children from sex trafficking. Hope you find this helpful. God bless.
@Melissa-YupMelissaАй бұрын
@@ginabanks8594 Thank you for your kind response. I apologize for not expressing myself well enough to get my point across. I adore Pastor, and I sometimes appreciate the speakers and sometimes don't. But my point is that there are those among the congregation who do place celebrities on a pedestal, as Pastor explained in this video. Many folks do, in fact, in this church and many others. And by having a steady stream of celebrities come to speak, Pastor is actually encouraging that problem instead of addressing it more often and more vigorously. As I said, I adore Pastor. I don't doubt his motives one bit. But I do hope he sees this and considers his own culpability in this unintended consequence. He can certainly lead the way in turning the tide on this cultural phenomenon of celebrity worship.
@graceclark348126 күн бұрын
I understand your concerns melissa. I really do. I do think there are people who idolize celebrity culture. However I don't think that Pastor Jackson is encouraging that culture, I think he's trying to turn it all back to God. The way I see it, celebrities are people too and if they want to speak about god.. that's amazing! What is so wrong with a person who happens to be famous talking about God? So even though I really do understand your concern, I think you're in danger of splitting hairs. I don't think that Pastor Jackson is encouraging anything negative.
