That’s actually a great question. I have a sermon on the subject if you’re interested. In simple terms, evangelical is a term normally applied to Protestants who believe the Bible is true and that faith alone in Christ alone is both necessary and sufficient for salvation.

I know it sounds cute to use this issue going on in the Catholic Church to further the protestant agenda, and I found it amusing also. However, once we abandon the Catholic Church, we must then wade through the confusion of dozens of different false denominations which had no actual connection to Christ or his Apostles. Forgive us if some of us do not wish to follow some dude who got his degree from bible college on-line and got ordained by some dude who ALSO was not ordained by anyone in line of Apostolic succession, making their "pastorhood" a false office. I'd like to re iterate despite media intentional confusion over this story, the Catholic Church (unlike many "reformed churches today" does not endorse same sex marriage or same sex unions. I am happy to rattle off a few "reformed" churches that do actually do that however. Just let me know folks!

You're misunderstanding what the true church is. The true church is not being able to trace a denomination back to the time of Christ through some sort of procession. It is all people who have repented and believed in Christ. All who confess Him as Lord and Savior. Those believers meet together locally to make up the church body. Put your faith in Jesus not the church.

I'm old enough to remember when "Is the Pope Catholic?" was a rhetorical question. These days you'd be hard-pressed to find a traditional Catholic willing to blaspheme by answering "Yes." Most Catholics today admit there hasn't been a true Pope in decades, and having a living Pope serving alongside an apostate Antipope for the first time in nearly 600 years didn't help.

But true Biblical Theology can speak for itself, and although I am no John Calvin fan boy, I will say his work is more in line with the Bible than anything than a pope has ever done. Read the Bible for yourself in full context and comparison and see for yourself the flaws of your Roman ways.
