Church, stockings, and the 11th hour

@Finding Coopers Voice One thing that may be helpful not sure if you have ever thought about it. How about having a small church gathering at your house? That way you can have a little service and fellowship where cooper is comfortable with a few of his friends/family. Just a thought.

One of our priests says the reason the church is packed on christmas and easter is because all the CEOs are there - the Christmas and Easter Only attendees 😂😂😂😂😂😂

I have a lot of physical health issues so i often can't go to church and i find it tough on special occasions. Disabilities make life hard. BUT God is everywhere & I always hold that close.

When the kids were little and still believed in Santa, they only got few small things from him and the rest were from us. Santa presents were always wrapped in paper with Santa on it. That paper stayed hidden. Once they stopped believing, there were no presents from him. I always had a hard time finding stocking presents. NI have always hated wrapping presents, so now that the kids are all adults, everything is in gift bags. I'm not sure how I feel about that that either. Merry Christmas everyone!

Never thought about wanting my stocking presents wrapped - but then Santa was never wrapped either .. loved coming into seeing everything laid out, then the extra treat of stockings but had nuts and tangerine at the bottom - finally parents gifts -clothes, pajamas, etc ...

Several FB and KZbin discussions abound about Santa and traditions. My idea is that many American families had Santa traditions that modeled ideas from "The Night Before Christmas" and illustrations of that poem, like in the Christmas Ideals magazines. (These turn up in old bookstores and flea markets still.) I recall few of them in the 50s and 60s included wrapped presents in Santa's bag, probably for the visual effect. My other supposition is that wrapping paper was a money-maker so it was advertised as necessary. I admit these are guesses but I know only of the American publications. I am only talking about Santa's wrapping traditions and never saw his elves wrapping presents in the early years of animated versions also. What is right is what you want to do and if newly blended families differ, let the kids learn that taking turns and respecting others' traditions is important too!

I do think that since Cooper did find a lunchroom where he could be - maybe there would be a children's service or contemporary service where he could begin to do it. You are talking about sadness for him not being able to enjoy it with you. If you did not care, you would not be sad about it. People at home need love.

I did not take it that Kate was sad for Cooper. I took it that she was sad for herself and the rest of her family that they could not be together.

I never thought you were attacking the church. You have said many times he can't sit still and be quiet for that amount of time. Frankly I have a hard time sitting still myself!! Interesting to note my church doesn't even do special services for Christmas so we never go either. There are other churches I could go to but we usually just do family time instead. ❤❤❤

I wish I could be your sitter for the 4th, I haven't done fireworks in years due to my dog's terrible anxiety. I have actually started hating fireworks over all the anxiety.

Once again, I am so sorry for the unhappy people that say those ridiculous things. One day Cooper may go to church and he may not. However, the Lord loves Cooper and HE knows and understands. People like Hannah are the ones that make Christians look bad.
