One thing that has helped me with lighting for either the band or speaker is more back light. I will use just some color bars behind everyone and it helps with color and it makes the person on stage not look like a 2-D image.

I agree with nearly everything he said. However, I think it's important for each church to establish their look with their equpiemt. Like for us I never do a full blackout for our cameras. I also don't do super flashing lights for those sesntive to flashing lights. They great thing about this set up is that it gives layers to lighting which is the most important thing to creating dynamics. When you have mulitple layers, you can have those layers doing different things at the same time.

I go to Burke Community Church in Burke Virginia and we use Hog to control all of our lights. We use spotlights, light bars, movers and led fill lights.

It’s very great presentation but it will be better for u if u make your control type to fade horizontally. Right click, control type then fade horizontally. It will create a smooth transition.

Thanks, great content. We use lightkey and our worship team uses Multitracks, and our video is through ProPresenter. Multitracks does cueing to control the lights and lyrics with PP,but we haven't gotten into that yet. What are the benefits of Ableton Live over using Multitracks to cue?

I'm curious if it's a challenge for you to get even lighting on your vocalists faces with only the 2 ellipsoidals on either side of the stage? I might be interested in implementing this setup in our auditorium as the front lighting we use now washes out our background, much to my dismay.

It works great. The biggest challenge is the angle is too much from the side putting them on those trusses but it’s our only option with this portable setup.

At the other church I was designing at we had 18 martin moving spots, 20 martin moving washes, 42 chauvet professional led strips for media content during worship, 6 arri led washes, 9 source 4 lekos for front light, 2 arri led washes for band light all ran off of a grand ma 2 full size

14 lights. We are looking to get 3 or 4. All stage wash. No one at our church wants it to look like a concert. Our people on stage want to actually be able to see the faces they are singing with or talking to. Have no idea how churches afford all this gear.
