I remember President Nelson urging each of us to secure our spiritual foundation, our testimony, of the truthfulness of this work just like they are preparing the temple to endure the calamities to come. We have a lot of work to do.

I was thinking the same thing. It is inspiring to learn the details, craft and care taken in this project. The Salt Lake Temple is an amazing, historic and holy building but in the plans of eternity we and our temporal time on earth is more important. That makes me want to use more care and effort to build a solid foundation for myself.

Watching the young man dig out the pipe by hand all day long reminds me of how my mother's ancestors worked in the Alabama coal mines 12 or more hours a day 365 days a year with never an off day. I spoke to an old man once who worked the 'face' of the coal seam. He said he went to work before sunup, worked' until after sundown and only took a 1/2 hour for lunch (his only break) all day. His work environment was about 4 feet, floor to ceiling and his only tools were a miner's pick and shovel. I asked what happened if he was too sick to work. He said, "We didn't get paid." I'm grateful people no longer have to work like that but I'm glad someone is still willing to do so for a higher purpose.

They are DEFINITELY construction ANGELS in the flesh being supported by MANY construction ANGELS on the other side of the veil. I was an Ordinance Worker in the Salt Lake Temple for 8 years before it closed in 2020. I learned many times during the 8 years that any one who has any thing to do with any part of the Salt Lake Temple will always experience great sacrifice - their time, talents, abilities, etc. etc. It's what this iconic building stands for - people who have sacrificed a LOT and who continue to sacrifice for this temple. People who love this Temple so much and for what it stands for. The last words on this video: "It's an honor to do this". That is exactly how I felt about my 8 years waking up at 3:30 AM to serve in the Salt Lake Temple.

I appreciate the detailed explanation of the work being done on the Temple. It is still hard to understand hows they do everything (adjust a big pipe, drill down through granit walls etc ) with the precision that is needed and described (5 inch hole drilled through a 7 inch gap). The complex system of transferring the weight of the Temple down to the new foundation is also mazing.

Our shop did a ton of work with isolator bases, hundreds of thick plates plasma cut, machined, welded to large lugs and more attached to long 2 inch thick rebar. Our guys were down there cutting into some of those 7 foot diameter pipes for further work. Really cool to do.

I was amazed and surprised how the Salt Lake Temple have all seismic upgrades and foundations to be added, is to provide stronger resistance against magnitude 8 or higher earthquake that might collapse it in the future. What a great but gargantuan task of all civil engineering staffs and construction workers do their best to make and preserve this iconic temple God built for many years since pioneer time of Brigham Young. Someday, I will see this temple for the first time after this upgrade project is done, someday. This temple will really blessed more because of this preparation. Same thing goes to our personal foundation of having true to the faith and keeping the covenants - that if we do little by little, piece by piece and pipe by pipe, it adds our strong interlink to stay stronger and closer to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I testify of all these things. ❤❤❤

Amazing work they're doing. I wonder why they don't use a power tool to chip away at the dirt and rocks before shoveling it out. The huge effort to secure the Temple for a massive earthquake has me a little concerned. What do the church leaders know that we don't? Feels a bit ominous. We need to shore up our testimony so it's "unshaken" when the spiritual earthquakes hit, as well. Wonderful informative video, thank you.
