They said once that if they wanted to do a show that sounded just like their album, they could just have Lauren do autotuned Karaoke with none of the guys, but they recognized that if people come to shows they want to see something real, so they try to be as live and different as possible from their studio recording.

I love Chvrches and I hope they become very successful. Their album is one of the best I have bought in a while. Many good tracks. That when they perform live it is live is fantastic. No auto tune and mixing it up with instruments and computers is great. The Naked and Famous are another example of bands that have talent and deserve main stream success. They are great live. I hope to see Chvrches live some day.

Lauren really gets me into swoon territory real fast. I'm normally a curvy woman sorta guy but her voice and presence is just mwah! Love it. Enigmatic. Also: the whole album is quite solid, I must say. Great Pop material with a ton of energy.

So chvrches is really good and all, but the live version lacks the same energy in the vocals that it has in studio. The synth is reworked live and sounds fresh and lively but Lavren always seems too timid. Here it is ok, until the synth kicks up in the chorus, and she gets overwhelmed. Check out any of Susanne sundfør's live performances for comparison. Sundfør is quite reserved in interviews but demands attention on stage (no auto tune either), if Lavren could do the same Chvrches live would be hype/10.

The studio version is a lot more full sounding. I agree, though. I love this group, but they really need to beef up their live performances. They're so low energy (ironically). Lauren can seem very timid with her vocals sometimes, too. This one isn't so bad, but her vocals are very tepid in some other videos on KZbin. It's really a shame because their music lends itself to potentially great live shows. This is not that.
