frizzybob Lol? Are you ok? You do realize this comment was in response to all the people who say her voice is bad. Simple is just my description of her voice, but I meant it in a good way. I actually do have a cover on my channel, so go ahead and check it out. I'm not Billy Idol, but most people like my voice and I've sung in front of an audience of 3000 before, so don't tell me how big my balls are. My voice has also gotten a lot fuller and steadier since the video on my page, and my range has an increased dramatically. I've only been singing for about 2 years, and my video is several months old.

Lauren is a beauty of a singer and she fits 100% into the Band - in my opinion SHE is the spirit of the Band! Her very natural fine voice gives us something that has gone missing for quite a time in the music industry - she is a very natural jung girl and NOT a Melodyne manipulated pseudo singer like most of what we hear today in almost any styles. Wish the music industry had more such natural talents!

I really like CHVRCHES studio work, but man they need to do something more with their live performances. It just feels like karaoke. I know these guys are all talented as fuck, they just need to get creative and add some new element to it. A real drummer would be really cool if they could pull it off right.
@SamBorgman
@SamBorgman 10 жыл бұрын
Man this is just a radio station performance, the fact you get to see a video of it is good enough. They are not there to put on a spectacle. A real drummer is absolutely meaningless here.

The way they created their music is very hard to replicate again. The sound has undergone endless tweaks to get it that way. Its not a stock instrument, so the only way they could do it is like this.

Just my humble opinion, but they do sound great live. It sounds natural and more slow paced, just what the studio version lacks in. And what makes it special live are all those little comments they say in the meantime between songs. Sorry if there is any error, I am not a native speaker.

The fact is, they aren't using AutoTune like many artists are so fond of relying on in the glut of assembly-line music these days. I'd MUCH rather hear raw vocals mess up than hear a perfectly tuned melody ANY day. I'm a novice musician (don't read notes, never had any formal training, etc.), but, like many (this includes those who are intermediary and pro) musicians, I can TELL when some serious thought goes into constructing a song. To quote a song from Rush.."The Spirit Of Radio": "All this machinery making modern music can still be open-hearted". This is true, IF the artist using it puts thier passion into it. Don't discount what some call "button pushers". Chopin was a "button pusher". Beethoven, Bach, etc., were as well. Just because some musician doesn't make music everyone loves doesn't mean that that person is a "wanker" or loser. The REAL losers are those who make carbon-copy/cookie cutter/assembly line music and RELY on rehashed, UNORIGINAL IDEAS (as in using someone ELSE'S "hook" and claiming it as "original"). Real music comes from the heart and soul, and, whether it's rap, rock, metal, EDM/EBM, or country...If you're REAL, your fans WILL feel it.
@toddhedlund7821
@toddhedlund7821 11 жыл бұрын
And, no, having two verses, then the remaining 99 percent of a song is the same words over and over like most top40 isn't "artistry". That is called...unoriginal.

Did anyone notice the major fuck ups during Mother We Share? The vocal effects that are "performed" on the maschine played with out the guy even pressing the pads, and then a few looped at the end.. There's 3 artists and between 3-6 different layers of music going on. Loops are common place in live-electro performances. the whole idea is that you can't find enough people you like to create the music you want so you create it yourself, then loop it into the schpiele. Makes the artists seem that much more talented in my eyes

Side note: I feel so bad for people who look at a performance like this, and all they can do is piss & moan about how much the DJ headbangs during the song or speculate on some aspect of the lead singer's physicality. I mean…I don’t dislike them. I think they have catchy songs and I enjoy listening to them. Her voice to me…is just teetering on the border of semi good and bad. It kind of equates to a small girl singing karaoke. It’s not very strong….and not very good. But I can’t help but like them anyways- because the music is catchy. So torn….cvrse you chvrches!

She's an excellent singer and for you to say she's not very good you've obviously not one grain of musical ability or knowledge in you. It's more than just a voice. It's how the voice integrates effortlessly with the music the guys create around her. The simplicity of their sounds add up to something more complicated and her voice and melodies are the perfect front for this band. So I'd suggest you go educate yourself on music theory and harmony before blabbing off on here.

lol right. way to be open minded that not everyone hears things the way YOU do. i've watched multiple live performances of theirs- trying to gain opinion on how she sings live, and i've come to the conclusion that she has a very weak singing voice. yes it works on their studio album with some editing and helping from random voice enhancing software- but live, it's not the same. i appreciate artists that translate well live and personally, i don't think she does. this is in no way an attack and i still like the band, just my opinion. calm yourself and move on crabby patty.

I've heard her live and she sounds fine...she has a fine voice studio or live and there aren't no processing that you speak of..so maybe you should clear out those plug holes of yours. Just because you listened to lots of live acts doesn't mean you've a musical note in your sorry head. What you interpret as weak is the voice of a wee angel..Ballbag

"We're really learning!" But it's all wrong :| Oz did voice Yoda and Miss Piggy, but none of the other roles mentioned have *anyone* in common. Alan Oppenheimer did Skeletor. A bunch of people (none of whom are Oz or Oppenheimer) voiced the jawas. Howie Mandel voiced Gizmo, and a variety of others (none of whom are Oppenheimer or Oz) voiced the other Gremlins and mogwai. Actual fun learning fact: Peter Cullen, the definitive voice of Optimus Prime, DID do voice work for Gremlins as undefined "gremlins/mogwai"--as did Police Academy's Michael Winslow. Fun!

Lauren Mayberry puzzles me. Objectively, her live voice is nothing special. Yet there is something about it that sparks my interest (and no, I am not referring to her looks, even though she is very pretty; there are plenty of gorgeous singers who sound just plain awful). Perhaps the childlike sound of the voice that nevertheless also has some sort of maturity and confidence. The latter parts are much more pronounced in the studio recordings though. Perhaps she is still suffering from stage fright?
