CHVRCHES - High Enough To Carry You Over - AMAZING SONG :D
@adammayo43775 жыл бұрын
@@NightCabbage One of my fave songs by them. And his God's Plan on Love Is Dead is my favorite song on that album. His voice is ok, but the instrumentals and melodies have this looping/driving feel their other songs don't and I love that. I often put his songs on repeat. Hypnotic.

Dude, Martin's vocals are fuckin' awesome. Listen, if you only expect singing voices that are immediately gratifying, then you need to widen your close-minded vocal tastes. Martin adds his own personality with his voice and holy shit does it work. Imo, his vocals don't take any "getting used to..." he's a good singer.

I guarantee over 90% of the negative comments are Chvrches fans who either just recently got into them or have never been to a live show... Most of the actual concert goers will tell you "Under The Tide" is one of the most loved songs live as the energy is amazing with the crowd! Martin goes crazy on stage dancing like a lunatic and everyone just goes ape-sh*t! I will be honest as well and say yhat before seeing a show I thought the song was underwhelming. After being amidst the crowd during the song it has given it a whole new life and feel to it for me. Trust me when I say certain songs change after seeing the band live. Definitely one of my favorites!

Lot of people saying that this isn't "true" or "good" CHVRCHES because it's not Lauren singing, or that it's not really passionate when performed live or something to that effect. I couldn't disagree more. I've seen them live twice (first at Sasquatch 2013, second in Vancouver September 2013) and at the Vancouver show I was the first one in the venue and watched the whole thing right against the stage. They performed Under The Tide (back then just called "Tide") for one of the first times live and it was face-meltingly good. The amount of passion and fervor they all put into performing this song was palpable. Total chills all around. I love Lauren but she doesn't need to be the only singer to validate the band's music.

Are you really happy? Stay under the tide Stay in my eye line Looking ahead, there is a chance Wherever it all ends Head up, head up And stay strong Holding your head up, head up Keep holding, holding

There is a sort of down-to-earth-realism in how martin expresses himself and in how this song manifests through him. His 'character' here and in the live-performances (but not just the high-energy in his dancing), embodies something of modern man. In this tune is the mantra taught to us by our fathers and father-figures, one we keep repeating to ourselves, to keep our heads up - to keep going. It doesn't just 'come to us', we have to keep saying it, pretend to be 'strong', and hope to God that that 'our heads are actually kept up'. At once, this tune exposes that bewildering symphony that is the marriage of three things (a) the realization of our inherent weakness - that we don't have power, (b) an ecstatic hope - of the grace that will carry us through, (c) a satisfaction of this way of things.
