How important was Chyna to wrestling? Chyna stopped wrestling on national television on a weekly basis in 2001. And still girls that get into wrestling that were born in 2000s still talk about Chyna as an inspiration.

@@Oscirus I’m no fan of Chyna and I’m a HUGE fan of Eddie Guerrero. But to be fair to say pairing Eddie with Chyna didn’t elevate Eddie in any way isn’t fair to her. At the time (obviously not overtime) Chyna was a bigger star than Eddie in WWF and he came off more like such star by being paired with her. Also, Eddie showed way more personality being paired with her than he ever has up to that point. Believe me, I hate to give Chyna that kind of credit, but for whatever reason, she seemed to have bought something out of him that lead to him being the mega over star and future WWE champion.

@@Juan_rivera Dude, do your research. Eddie Guerrero fought drug+alcohol addiction for years. After a car accident in 1999, he became hooked on alcohol and on opiate painkillers (chemically the same thing as heroin). In 2001 he went to rehab but relapsed and got into a bad car crash while drunk and high on drugs and WWE fired him. Soon after that he was able to overcome his demons, went back to drug rehab, got clean for good this time and was re-hired by WWE. He was clean from all drugs+alcohol for the last 3/4 years of his life. One of his most infamous promos is the one where he talks to Brock Lesnar where he emotionally details his struggles as a drug addict.

@@craigjones1946 I think of it every now and then and I’m not sure. They wrote her into a corner with her neck injury being the reason she’s suddenly in the women’s division. If they really wanted to, they could’ve pulled a Sable and let her out of her contract when/if she started to be a issue like Sable. The fact they waited until the end of her contract, and count her time off TV in her reign, to me seems to indicate some level of they tried working with her (JR says Vince wanted her back even though JR didn’t), but it fell apart (my thinking) in the end to me. Hindsight is 20/20 so with that said: Chyna defied how a woman was portrayed in wresting back in the day. She wasn't a defenseless valet like a Marlena or Miss Elizabeth. She was THE muscle of DX. This was the one time you would be afraid of her more than Triple H or HBK. Also her accomplishments are impossible to recreate today from being in the King of the Ring to winning the IC belt and being a legitimate competitor in the Royal Rumble (none of this spot stealing like what Beth Phoenix or Nia Jax did just to make the guy look weak) But she did no favors for the women's division due to her thinking it was a downgrade compared to wresting men. It would be women like Trish and Lita who helped elevate the division after Chyna was gone. So overall, Chyna was truly one of a kind and i feel she would thrive in today's women's division

Chyna was the Attitude Era equivalent of the Ultimate Warrior in that she had a unique look, great character, protected by the office, and had a genuine charismatic aura about her. However, much like UW, she was average at best in the ring and only shone when her opponent could carry her. Her career gets looked at with extra rose tinted glasses because of it being the Attitude Era and she became a crackhead drunkard in the later stages of her life and that makes people sad. Several of her opponents have said she was difficult to work with and not very good. Her ego got over inflated because she was pretty much a one of a kind talent at the time. She looked more dominant than the other women at the time but that didn't necessarily mean she was more talented than all of them. Chyna also looked completely outclassed against the main eventers of the time and never should have been taken seriously against any of them. She had a great run with a few truly memorable angles in there but the one angle she's most widely applauded for was only successful because of Eddie Guerrero being so damn great. Let's face it the Latino Heat angle got over because of Eddie and not Chyna. Eddie would have made that golden working with any of the other women on the roster at the time. She was a solid if unspectacular midcarder.

You look at some of the intergender matches today, where the women are no where near as tall or as jacked as Chyna was, and the guys sell for them like they were men of the same weight, height and build. Tessa Blanchard no sells a Samoan Drop from a guy, legit 300 pounds heavier than she is in a ladder match but the guys here don't want to sell an elbow from Chyna. Yet, a super heavyweight sells for Tessa who's smaller like she's a super heavyweight. It's like we went backwards.

She was great. Bodyguard Chyna - especially DX as a group was EPIC! Chyna smashing guys and tossing around women was freaking cool. Chyna’s early “solo” push: Mark Henry, corporate rumble, arm wrestling Vince, turning on DX - really got people excited. Jeff was fun and established her proper as a top mid-carder on her own. Despite Jericho regularly disparaging her what they created together really showed how great she could be. Unfortunately the Eddie stuff and eventually the women’s division just diminished her character. She was a second to Eddie which was obviously a step back. Playboy came around so it was matches it high heels and fluff. Then it became more about capitalizing on her looks & fame. Muscle disappeared, the black leather vanished, beating up guys basically went away and it became quick squash matches with women - which didn’t elevate her or the other ladies. That’s particularly shameful because with Ivory, Jackie, Lita, and Tori on the roster there could have been really epic stuff. So bodyguard: A. Early solo: B+. JJ feud: B. Y2J: A. Random / Eddie: B - or C+. Women’s division: B.
