I too am from there. It has been said that Cienfuegos is the most beautiful city in Cuba. I was born there and left fleeing communism in the early 60's.

Now this is surprising, in a good way. It defies the common perception of Cuban buildings, which, like the era vehicles running in the island, are thought to have seen their best days. That is a distorted view, it appears. I think Cuba is now in its goldilocks. Structures and neighborhoods that appeared dilapidated and old probably still have good bones, like many of the buildings pictured in the video. A little upgrade would pay off massively, as potential hoards of tourists embrace the allure. As usual, the video is first rate, from the choice of places and locations to the professional production. We love coming along for the ride :) Good Going Cuba. Cheers!

All this marvelous architecture was created during the Colonial and Republican periods. After the Communist uptake in 1959, Cuban architectural output could be resumed in slums and Soviet-style concrete boxes.

I love to visit Cuba, but the length of trips, most travel agencies are offering is seven nights. My experince with flight from EU to NY is, that it took me three days to recover from jet lag:-)

Beautiful, beautiful! I was there recently (Thanksgiving Week/November 2017) and it is exactly this - despite some rain days I saw too. I stayed at the Jagua next to the Palacio de Valle, visited TeatroTomas Terry theater (you have some great shots!), walked along Punta Gorda, and was treated to a concert with the Cienfuegos Chamber orchestra / Concierto Sur. What a beautiful and historic place, and like so much of Cuba, "frozen in amber" with all it's history and grandeur (if without the sugar-trade boom economy these days - though now it's cement & shrimp industries). Thank you so much/muchos gracias for this nicely assembled collage of images. Wishing you - and Cienfuegos and its lovers - a very Happy & Healthy New Year! I wish I had visited Cuba before I got my US citizenship.. it's not such a spectacular country at least relative to others, but it feels somehow special, maybe exactly because of this embargo that kept them from developing too much.
