That is a cool hack to that basic pickup. The rooster compliments your new flannel

Thanks for the tip Del on modding the pickup. Do me a favor though - grab your glasses to protect your eyes when you are snipping the plastic with the side cutters - would hate for a little flying piece of plastic to get in the way of any future videos!

Nice build, love the tones. Once you get into building and playing these little guitars it becomes hard to stop.

I've been wanting to try my hand at winding my own pickups for quite some time, collected the wire, magnets, etc etc ... just can't get up to the winding stage... I watch alot of guys just free wheeling with a bobbing stuck to a drill and guys using sophisticated devices that count the winds etc ... just haven't got that far yet...

Del, dontcha hate the annoying guy that points out that in the beginning it sounded like you were going to explain more about how a pickup works and how to build one. Maybe it was a note on the cuff of the first sleeve you tailored... 😂 sounds great, and shirt is looking good!

i’ve never actually “built” my own pickup. i’m too intimidated. but that’s an awesome idea for a great video. i like it

Hey Del! Another great one. How and why do you choose a particular scale length over another? I saw the video where you had a yardstick as the fretboard and chose 24” scale so the the 12” mark lined up with the twelfth fret but beyond that how do you decide? Do you have a video that addresses these choices?
@PuckettCigarBoxGuitar Жыл бұрын
my “favorite” scale for the CBG is 23 inch . it just ‘feels’ right and looks proportional to the smaller boxes. i take into consideration where the saddle will land and sometimes that affects scale choice. other times i just choose different scale lengths simply to try them out …. it’s not a very complicated process 🤓

@PuckettCigarBoxGuitar Can you do a video on minor tunings like DAC?
@PuckettCigarBoxGuitar Жыл бұрын
i’ll start experimenting 😎
@-jank-willson Жыл бұрын
@@PuckettCigarBoxGuitar it's commonly used on dulcimers (the 'shady grove' tuning), but I think it could work fine on CBG's too.

Another great video! I have a question Del, when you do a scarf joint headstock do you cut or “thin down” the headstock piece to have longer tuner pegs to get a better wrap of the strings?
@PuckettCigarBoxGuitar Жыл бұрын
most often yes… 😀

The irregularly shaped magnet on the bottom of the hand-wound pickup looked like it was from a computer hard drive.

Too lazy to re-shoot where the action goes out of view? This is supposed to be SHOW and tell.
