With so many "experts" dismissing Cimarron Firearms Co. as just another importer, we at Cimarron feel the need to educate the public on what our contribution to Replica Western Firearms actually is. Every day a misinformed historian is claiming to know for a fact that Cimarron is exactly like any other importer, and Cimarron's products are just like everybody else's. Then these guys challenge us, usually on our own facebook posts, saying, "prove me wrong". Of course, we do prove them wrong, and they still refuse the truth! Just as soon as we're done educating that potential customer, another one is popping up saying the same thing. It's like playing Whack-a-Mole all the time! Cimarron's President, Mike Harvey is greatly responsible for bringing most Replica Western Firearms that are available today to market. Why? Passion for the Old West!! Passion for firearms!! Also, because by the late 70's, Mike and Mary Lou Harvey got tired of waiting for somebody else to do it. So please enjoy this spirited history lesson from Mike Harvey himself!

@mountaineer7435 lol, i get what you're saying. Yes, i can afford originals now. But it wasn't always like that. There were times top Ramen Noodles were out of the budget. Let alone a uberti. My love for antique firearms started with a 5 1/2 cimarron SAA. When i wrote this, comment it. I was looking back in time to when i got my first replica and saying thanks.

Mike, I just bought one of your 1862 Pocket Pistols in .380 two days ago. Disassembled it and cleaned it that night and went to the range yesterday. This was the first Cimmeron for me, I have to tell you the fit and finish was first rate! Shooting it was a delight! It’s a little stiff but it’s new, that will improve with time. Shot a little high, gonna find the sweet spot for it and with some Kentucky Windage, it will be just fine. It’s a good match with my nearly 40 year old Henry brass frame. Next purchase will be one of you Navy Conversions in .38. Thanks for your quality products and company!

I have a 5.5" 1873 that I bought in the mid 90's, beautiful revolver, and well made. When I bought it I test fired it, cleaned it and put it away. A few months ago I decided to load some cartridges, and test it properly, and regulate the front sight because it shot a bit to the left. In short, this is one of the most accurate revolvers I've ever fired with Berry's 230 grain plated hybrid hollow point bullets and a moderate charge Of Unique powder. 3 shot groups are literally "one hole" at 18 yards from sandbag rest. When I purchased the revolver, I compared it to Colt and Ruger, and it seemed higher quality, than either of those, and looked better as well. I love it!!! Keep up the great work. Oh, and tweeking the front sight a bit got her dead on the money the first attempt.

@@clatechilders856 Made a tool from a stick of forged aluminum, cut a slot in the end the same shape as the front sight, and lightly bent sight. It's unnoticeable, and is now dead vertical. It only took a small amount, nothing drastic.

I just ordered a Cimarron P410 Frontier model chambered in 45 Colt. On your web site you indicate that this model is an exact replica of the pre-war SAA. I have been watching Mike Harvey do these Cimarron Original videos, he seems to be very much at ease with his presentations. Recently, I bought a new Cimarron Frontier model revolver with a 7-1/2" barrel. I am VERY much impressed and happy with this beyond cool revolver. All the screws were placed in the frame with absolute precision, which is a sign of a company that stresses perfection! Sometime I want to talk to Mike Harvey one on one... I have some original old time gallery cards of indians, and one gallery card is an original of gunman Tom Horn that Mike Harvey would be interested in. I think that Mike Harvey may be familar with my friend and famous cowboy artist, Mehl Lawson. We were in the same high school class in California.

Mike you posted a great video and I really enjoyed watching it, and talking about craftsmen work on a firearm versus mass production. I recently bought one of Cimarron’s Evil Roy 45 colt revolvers and it has the smoothest action that I have ever tried on a single action handgun (I am not disrespecting the other manufacturers and have several of their firearms). But there is no comparison: the hammer comes back effortlessly and the trigger break is smooth as it gets. I don’t know if my Cimarron is a fluke but don’t think so. The guys at the gun shop are friends and they said it was as smooth as any they had ever seen, including more costly single actions. You didn’t mention trigger action in your video but you really should point that out it is second to NONE. Best Wishes from Wild, Wonderful West Virginia!

Mike Thanks so much for your stories. Love my Cimarron's. Please have them make a Model 1894 in 25/35. You are the only outfit producing a decent 1894 Winchester 26" Octagon barreled 94, and with Hornady making the 25/35 Leverlution ammo with those soft plastic tip splitzer bullets it really makes a total full measure out of that round.

I also have a Dixie Uberti from 1982 and a Heritage Pietta from 2019, but they come as nicely finished in action or appearance, as the Cimarron revolvers do. After watching this video I ordered a Model P. Waited for months. When it finally arrived the end shake and barrel/cylinder gap was dangerously excessive… over 20 thousandths of an inch! Cimarron told me to send it back to their gunsmith. After more months of waiting it was mailed back to me. The barrel was set back so far that while the barrel/cylinder gap was great, the cylinder would no longer turn after cartridges were inserted. The base of the cartridge would not clear the recoil shield. Went from too loose to too tight. Sent it back again. This time the wait was much shorter, but when I got the revolver back, the cylinder fit correctly, but the ejector rod was literally hanging off of the barrel by almost 1/8” at the end. It was unusable and unsellable. I asked Cimarron to replace it, but they refused. I finally gave up and give it away. I love these old weapons and appreciate that they are still being made, but this was my experience.

Mike. Thank you. Fantastic history. I learned about Cimarron from "The Adventure Cowboy" as I have been looking for a Colt single action to go with my original 1896 manufacture date Winchester 1892 in 44-40. I learned about the Cimarron Bisley in 44-40 with 7 1/2" barrel. I want to purchase one from you guys. Do you sell from the Fredricksburg Office or do I have to go through a Dealer? I would really prefer to purchase from you. I am 64 years old and this is a lifelong dream to have the two firearms in 44-40. I purchased 72 acres in Arizona where I am going to live out my days many of which will be spent shooting. Thanks again for this KZbin!

Just bought two of your Uberti SAA revolvers, a 7th Cavalry model in .45 Colt and a 5.5 in .44 WCF. Other than the fact that the Calvary model came with a mar in the grip and a scratch on the hammer, I am somewhat pleased with them both. Would simply argue that "Works of Art" are generally unblemished. Tools, on the other hand, are pretty much destined for some kind of surface altering demarcations. Just not sure in this case which term applies to my purchase.

I've been trying to find myself the "perfect" model from Cimarron for myself lately (this would be my first single action revolver) and it's very confusing to buy one of these with the websites putting out incorrect model numbers or maker names or limited/no pictures or details of where the guns come from. And it doesn't help in the slightest to read people say that it "doesn't matter" who imports them. Hoping I can find one soon because they are beautiful!

Excellent overview. Thank you as well. I own a number of your firearms without publishing the exact number. I am very happy with fit and finish too. Of course, the nickel finish guns are hard to beat for looks. If I were to suggest something or make a request ... I would love to have the option of getting a Cimarron 1873 Single Action Army with an upgraded or more expensive case harding to historical manufacturing processes and yes - you would have to charge several hundred dollars more than your current ones. Not a big deal; but there is a difference between the outrageous priced Colts and when you can find one and their high priced friends at Standard. Great job and thank you for making great guns too. Nothing better than Hopalong Cassidy’s rig or Have Gun Will Travel.

I like my modern guns but I also love classic firearms from the old west too. Like you said they were works of art. I live near Fort Smith, Arkansas witch has an old west history with the courthouse of the famous Hanging Judge Parker that sent U.S. Marshals to find outlaws hiding in nearby Oklahoma. That of course inspired the movie True Grit. They have some of the original classic guns in the Courthouse museum and nearby they are building a U.S. Marshals Museum. I definitely want to purchase a old west style replica soon and the classic revolvers still made by Colt are $1700+ . There are a few Cimarron revolvers at our local gun store. They looked beautiful. Don’t know witch models they were. One was $500 and the other $600. Maybe soon I might put one on layaway. I think every gun owner needs at least one old west style revolver.

I wish the uberti cimmaron 1873 had the correct checkering on the hammer instead of the laser stuff they do now. Wish they would fix that as cosmeticly they are typically very attractive accurate to original guns.

Great video, but I have a question ❓ Why does the 1873 cimarron not have the classic colt four click hammer? I have several 1873 Colt clones in 357 and 22 none have the 4 clicks. Just wondering love them all. The 1875 Remington is awesome!!

Hi Terry. Cimarron still offers that model with four clicks. A couple years ago Uberti announced to us that all of their single action models would now have a three click safety hammer. Cimarron wasn't crazy about that and fought to keep it authentic. After some negotiation the compromise was that Uberti would allow Cimarron to keep the classic hammers on Old Model revolvers and have the safety hammer on Pre War models. This is only for Cimarron. Also, all Frontier models that Cimarron has Pietta produce for us still have the classic four click hammer. So, authenticity is still an option. Thanks!

My wife bought me one as a wedding gift. It's a model P in 357 magnum. It is the crown jewel of my gun collection.

Will the Model P .44 Special handle a steady diet of the Skeeter Skelton .44 Special loads?

We recommend that you shoot only standard over the counter ammunition that meet SAMMI specifications, www.saami.org/. Shooting any ammo like +P or reloads will void the warranty on the gun.

In many cases, Cimarron does provide the specs for models we have introduced. Not just with Uberti. Go check out the "Cimarron Introductions" section of our catalog. Thanks.

I’m going to buy another Cimarron. The 1892 Cimarron made by Chiappa is as nice as the Miroku Winchesters. Next is a 1873 Army. Right up the road from my cousin inJohnson City.
