Hello Tom. You have done an amazing job with your shelter at Cimbrer Camp! I really like the way the wood shelter, the new stove, and all the special touches you are adding go together. Very old school and it suits you perfectly! Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your new shelter with you. Have a great week my friend. Best wishes to you and your family.

Shorten the stove legs by 4 inches to reduce the footprint of the stove to fit the concrete pad, have a piece of tin 2 inches away from the wall to act a a thermal break to prvent the wall from igniting, and as a heat reflector. Or use a fiberglass welding blanket hung on the wall. Good job, greetings from British Columbia, Canada

Dave Betker - some good ideas. The welding blanket is a clever way of protecting the wall. Simple, but it will work! 👍🏻(fellow Canadian 🇨🇦)

Tom, a great video. You have inspired me to put some rough timber cladding on my shelter I have at the bottom of my garden. Then I can use for day and overnight use. Hi Tom. Great work on your camp and shelter. If you’re looking for a large piece of plastic sheet, talk to the land owner of the farm that you are on. It is very common to use huge sheets of plastic on giant rolls to cover green houses or to make row covers for plants when it’s cold. He or another farmer he knows may have some extra pieces. I’ve been with you since almost the very beginning, thank you for taking us on your adventures. Good luck and thank you 😊

Hey Tom, we often refer to a campfire as the bush television because it is the main focal point and something to gather around and watch in the evening. Your new stove is the first widescreen model I've seen and it is certainly a great addition to the shelter. I would put the concrete tile against the wall between the wall and the stove at its closest point to reflect the heat away from the wall for safety and to radiate it back into the room. And just level the stove with dirt floor material. That is what I would do because I had my wood stove catch my wall on fire back in 1995. Now, I always put protection against the wall, no matter what..Very nice video..

Dear Tom. Congratulations for shelter inauguration. I shall drink a beer for that. It is nice to see you in this shelter because it is something very desired for you. Only a couple of things; what about a metal plate (brass, stainless steel...) between the wall and stove? I think in this way, this can be a reflector of the heat because you have not a fourth wall or a door. I think you can benefit of heat that is missing throught the wall wood. Other suggestion is to put a little more of concret, because the foot of the stove is very near of end (it is the impression in the video). A beautiful kuksa too. I would like to be able to do by myselft too, but.... I think it won't be possible. Pity I hope you enjoy you shelter a lot of time. Greetings a lot from Madrid and great to see you in a new video!!!

Mr Betker has a good idea of how to fix your stove situation. If you cut them down some, it would fit on the concrete slab that you have. As long as you still have enough chimney pipe to clear the roof, it would work fine.

I have a couple recomendations for you Tom. First for the stove, place a thin steel plate under stove for extra stance of stove legs. Second in regards to the plastic for your super shelter idea, get 2 clear shower curtains and a rod, they're heavy duty and you can slide them open left or right as opposed to lifting them up and down. Another great vid bud!

Thanks Eddie for coming along and enjoying it with me 👍🏻😁 and thanks for your suggestions; great ideas 😉 I’ve already made my plastic frontcover and solved the problem with the legs 💪🏻😎 You’ll see how in my next video. See you soon 🏕🦌🔥 Tom

Excellent job. Well done. Perhaps heavy, thick, clear vinyl strips, ceiling to floor, such as those used in a warehouse to allow a forklift to plow right through from one room to another, might suffice to retain a lot of heat in colder weather, yet permit a bit of fresh air to enter along any seams. It would provide visibility, easy passage in/out, and a substantial rain, snow and wind break. In a frame it could be made removable and seasonal.Thanks for the great videos. Have a healthy 2020.

Tom, nice job on the shelter. Have you thought maybe of obtaining salvage wood windows and building a window wall in a random pattern? Painted out white, I think would look very nice. Maybe a door with large glass pane as well. Maybe not old-school enough for you. On medium cold days, the shelter would be warmed by solar alone. Just my architect brain working over-time, cheers!
@cimbrerbushcraft-vikingheritag4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your feedback and great suggestion 👍🏻😉 appreciate that very much. Unfortunately I’m only allowed to build a shelter that’s open … so you idea is not an option 🤔😏 But I think my solution … putting a transparent plastic cover up on the front will work See you soon buddy 🏕🦌🔥 Tom

Good morning my friend. I think your hands need some time to recover. Ouch ! If I could make a suggestion on the front for your super shelter. Clear shower curtains would work very well. However you must get the ones marked. " P E V A " . That is the material it is made of. Poly ethelene vinyl acetate. This vinyl is very resistant to cold and stays much more supple and resistant to cracking in very cold weather. It's clear so heat from an outside fire can warm your shelter and visibility is quite good. In Canada I can get this at Walmart quite inexpensivly. Have a great day Tom. ATB. Paul
