Cinching a Gusset Hole

Knitted socks often develop a hole at the gusset where the knitting changes direction, especially those with flap-and-gusset heels. This tutorial shows how to eliminate that hole by cinching it closed when the knitting is complete.

Very clever. The place where I could really use this is thumb gussets on mittens.
