The Bengals made the right pick at 18 with Amarius Mims. This kid is super athletic,has size and speed along with the strength to block edge rushers like Myles Garrett and TJ Watt. Mims is the type of tackle you are looking for in the AFC North. He’s going to be really good,for a long time.

The Steelers would've been all over Mims if he would've fallen to them. Glad the Bengals got him. Mim's is a MANIMAL BEAST of a player that almost resembles a TE because he carries his weight so well. Zac Taylor said Mim's actually looks like he could gain weight even though he already weighs 340 pounds! Mim's is also one of the strongest players in this draft along with having quick feet. In time, Mim's has the chance to not only become the best OT in this draft, but in the entire league. Mim's has rare traits with freakish measurements and abilities. Unheard of potential. Outstanding pick.

Mimms was OT-2 for me in a stud OT class this amazing & when it came down to our pick, it was him or Newton so anybody that doesn't agree with this pick didn't do their homework. Newton was more of a 2nd Rnd pick the whole time because of the Liz Frank injury they are like coming back from a ACL in your foot. I still would love to get him, but in the 2nd I've been saying it for months you cover it also. I'm so happy we got the JEWEL of this draft at OT to me. If he would have played 5 more games he might have been OT-2. I've been drinking M&Ms Kool-Aid for months he looks like Trent Williams & reminds me of Big Willie on the right. If he hits what an advantage so is Fuaga & Latham not many teams have that. Those 3 OTs were extremely valuable to me. WHO-DEY!!!

No it isn't. We picked him solely on size. He has hardly any game tape. He's a project that won't play this year and we keep our glaring holes on defense. We wouldnt't be able to stop Helen Keller from running all over us at this point. We don't need depth or a project in first round especially with it being up to frank pollack to groom him. Stupid pick
@chrisw6476 ай бұрын
@@heathswinson6506He is not "depth" or a "project." His tape is damn near flawless, as limited as his tape is. His only real question is his durability, & he probably WILL play/start at some point THIS year. You really like the yearly bandaids at RT? Yeah, that's a great way to protect the franchise QB. Some Bengals fans are unhappy with this pick. Cry. We'll see how "stupid" the pick was when Trent Brown is injured halfway through the season.
@heathswinson65066 ай бұрын
@@chrisw647 he is 100 percent a project and 100 for depth this year. You said it yourself when you said when "Trent brown goes down". That's for depth my man. Not starting means he is depth. If both browns are healthy then he won't start this year. He won't beat them for the spot. He's intended for next year and to be "depth" this year while he is groomed under Trent, Orlando and Frank pollack. Making him a "project". Like you said the only real question is his durability and the fact he played 8 freakin games seemingly speaks on that a bunch. Likely because he can't stay healthy or he don't have the drive. Nick Saban said he's Jackson carmen and has great tools but no drive. I'm good with proven veteran rentals over counting on Frank pollack to coach em up. I've said it repeatedly but we ignored our 31st in league run defense and skipped a DT day one impact player even though it's glaring need, we ignored our secondary that allowed more than twice the long plays as the next worst team and we skipped over the top corner in the draft, we ignored the loss of Boyd and our 3 headed WR monster identity and the fact tee is as good as gone after this season. We could have got day one starter at WR and upgraded over Boyd. We could have got a center, moved karras over to LG and upgraded volsons spot also. But we opted to draft a player to sit on the bench until someone is injured. Yes he is a project, he is a gamble and he is depth.

That's not a project, just a guy who played less than you would expect because he had good players in front of him. I think people are mixing language too much. A "project" is someone with physical traits and potential who hasn't shown them in snaps. Mims's snaps have been great, his opportunities were just not as much and that's not his fault at all. I find these takes kinda ridiculous.

Nothing wrong with taking a risk on the 18th pick whose only real concern has been injuries. It's not like they blew a top 5 pick on an injury risk, like they once did with Munoz. Mims has great tape vs top competition. Period. People keep cluelessly equating his lack of PT with being "raw" & a "project." Raw projects have lots of things to correct & fix that they put on tape. Mims' tape does not show a "raw project" but an OT who knows how to play OT. Period. People saying he is a "project" are truly clueless about what a "project" really is. A great exampke of a "project" is Tyler Guyton. Has potential physical tools that teams can see but also has a lot of examples of deficient play on tape that will need correcting if he hopes to succeed in the NFL, whereas Mims tape is pretty much outstanding every snap in the 8 games he played. We also have Dante Smith who is in fact an offensive tackle. Also we got Cody Ford who played right tackle in college and RT for The Bills for a few years. Now obviously Amarius Mims will be the swing tackle this year and first one off the bench at RT. If in game one Orlando Brown went down god forbid I believe they Jackson Carman would be his immediate replacement. I know you guys hate Jackson Carman for some reason. Carman didn’t ask to be picked where he was. Carman played only left tackle I. HS and college. He literally never took a snap at any position except LT so it’s not his fault that the Bengals tried to make him a Right guard and failed. None of these things are Carmans fault. Carman can play left tackle. He proves that in 2022 when he played against Buffalo in Buffalo In the snow and allowed no sacks for that game. The Bengals have a HORRIBLE track record of drafting tackles and getting them to play guard. Or drafting a tackle when you need a guard. But all that’s in the past now. Mims is the guy moving forward at right tackle. Mims is a freak. He is huge and in a good way. He is muscle very little fat. His RAS is 9.48. You can’t get much more athletic for someone his size. And Tyron Smith is small next to Mims. Pollock also coached Lael Collins in Dallas too. Collins was a dam good RT and guard at Dallas.

We can now go jumbo pkg mims on the side of brown run behind jumbo pkghe can pull short yardage he's lighter also go back watch the combine interview where he says he wanted to come to concert and block for burrow last night he cried and choked up he wanted to come here great pick and yes steelers wanted him badly

Hopefully they draft D'Vondre Sweat @46.

I don't like moving players around I think it's crazy why not leave Mims alone at RT so he can develop into a pro-bowler hopefully all-pro why does everyone have to be a jack of all trade look at Dax who u all cry so much over in why Cin's just can't keep him at 1 position so he can develop at it I can see backup been versatile playing learning different position but God let the man first be the best that he can B at RT before you screw up his mind with playing LT a side he's never played

Trent brown has an injury history, cant trust him to make it to the end of the season. We’ll draft a DT round 2 and probably a corner and/or wide receiver round 3

Yeah, our "win now" coaches are really hoping for Kiran Amegadjie, a left tackle project from Yale, in round 3.😂

If Newton is gone at 49 or they don’t trade up to get him I would probably draft Devondre Sweat or that TE from Kansas State. If Sweat is still available at 80 I would definitely draft him. The dude is an elite run defender and a dam good pass rusher too. I don’t give 2 fucks about his DUI. The culture in Cincinnati is strong enough to tame him. Once upon a time Joe Mixon got into some trouble too. And it was worse trouble that a DWI. DWI 1 is still a misdemeanor in every state in the union. If we get Sweat we have satisfied the teams 2 biggest needs. And we still have 8 picks left. I’m praying for Newton but would take Sweat in the 2nd or 3rd if he is still there. I don’t think he will be there I. The 3rd round because I think Cleveland is picking him in the 2nd. We pick before Cleveland so when can deny them of Sweats services.

I always say we have the whiniest fans in football. Bengals double down on the Oline (something most have cried for them to do for years) and we got people crying about having too many tackles. Guess what? We play in the AFC north and play TJ watt and Myles Garrett twice a year. Trent brown was drafted to be a bandaid and a rental who can swing from RT to LT. Now we have insurance, our long term fix and flexibility if someone goes down. Not to mention we don’t know if he can shuffle inside. Newton is still on the board and besides maybe Thomas who was drafted after us that is better than mims?
@johnhitz11856 ай бұрын
Verse was drafted after us and is better than Mims. You know, defense?

@@johnhitz1185 we just drafted Myles Murphy last year. 6’5 275 DE? You know? Not to mention we’re still figuring out what to do with Hendrickson and have Hubbard making 10 million a year. Again, crybaby fans who don’t understand the dynamic of need/BPA and are impossible to please

I disagree with the pick and I will tell you why. Your first round pick should be a guy or a position like in the case that you think will have an immediate impact on your team. Mims is a guy coming into an already filled Tackle position. Im assuming the predicted starters will be O-Brown and T-Brown. So what will his impact be on this team this year. Unless he proves to be that generational tallent right out of the gate. I dont see him starting until 2025. I believe a Defender DT/CB/DE would have been the better choice here. All 3 of those positions could use upgrades. All three of those positions a draftee could have made an immediate impact for this team. So I dont hate the pick. I think its smart I believe it will pay off. I like Mims and love the depth he now gives our OT room. I just cant say that was the right pick for the Bengals for the 2024 season. I dont believe it moves the needle at all for 2024. Value Grade = Grade A+ Bengals Needs = B+ Love the Bengals and the moves they are making. Last 5 years have been fun. Cant wait for 2024 season. WHO DEY!!

When was the last time we actually developed any offensive lineman? Let alone one with injury problems? And he probably won’t even start… THIS IS THE SUPER BOWL WINDOW! Why are we taking DEVELOPMENTAL picks in the first round. We should be taking proven nfl ready starting talent. We had any CB we want. We had Newton. We had good WR available. I hate this pick so much. Give me a break.

You would think Billy Price was a sure thing. I mean he won every god dam award that a Center can get 1st team All American 1st team all Big 10 yet they wanted Frank Ragnow. Rightly as it turns out but looking at Billy’s Profile he seemed like a sure thing. He didn’t test though. At all. That’s what scared me about JC Latham. But why was t Price any good? He made the PFWA All Roomie team so he was obviously at least ok in 2018. I was t following the Bengals back then so I don’t know. How can the guy who is according to the experts the best Center in the country be such a fucking disaster?

Good points here, guys. I feel Mims won't be C.O. 2.0, (great line), and he had a genuine humble reaction. Truly a "clean canvas" to train up. I must admit, I would have been tempted to get the CB from Toledo Then again, I'm a homer.

Mims is NOTHING like Cedric Ogbeuhi. Nothing. Ogbeuhi did not test he was 6’5’’ 307 lbs. nothing like Mims. And Fisher is nothing like Mims either. Drake Maye is Sam Darnold 2.0. Guyton is going to be a miss. Mims is a fucking dawg. He hasn’t played a lot but he was great when he did. That means he is going to get even better the more that he plays. He is a country boy too. That’s one of the reasons I love Volson so much. He is what I call country strong.

Terrion Arnold is not fast enough to play outside CB in the NFL. He is a nickel only. Newton would have been worthy of the 18th pick. Byron Murphys pass rush win rate was a couple percentage points higher than Newtons last year but Newton had 8.5 sacks and Murphy only had 5. And Murphy had Devondre Sweat playing beside him. Newton didn’t have a Devondre Sweat playing beside him.
@bengalselite95886 ай бұрын
He’s definitely not a nickel . He’s an outside Corner his technique is elite in man coverage not to mention one of the best run defense Cb in this draft !! U saying he’s a nickel is crazy the kid had a 52.5 Qb rating when targeted !!! if u think Terrion Arnold will be a nickel u might have to go back n watch his tape n do your research !!!
