This is th 2nd year in a row,the Reds took a pitcher ,from Wake Forest,with their first round pick! Last year ,it was Rhett Lowder.

A 48% strike out rate! And he seems to have an amazing attitude. Just think of a developed Burns and Lowder plus Green and Lodolo after a few years more of development. I think we might have the best rotation in baseball in a few years.

Greene, Lodolo, Abbott, Lowder, Burns in 2026 is very possible
@burlyzulu3 ай бұрын
Should have drafted Condon. We have Lodolo, Greene, Abbott who all are young and talented. As well as Lowder in the minors(Chase Petty, too). Alexis Diaz had a good season last year, not this year but he still has time to improve. So if we drafted this guy as a starter I’m confused because we have good starters, if we drafted him as a closer then I’m confused because we have Diaz and Condon was on the board. Condon plays 3rd and outfield and our outfield is pretty pathetic. If he’s great then cool, but if he sucks and Condon becomes a 35+ home run a season type hitter then we’ll look so stupid.
@bubsie443 ай бұрын
Reds have a lot of young position players too, though it’s fair to say the outfield is a weakness for us. I would expect a young infielder to move there. But regardless you can never have enough pitchers, especially it’s easier to sign hitters to come play in Cincinnati.
@nolanswaggalicious94713 ай бұрын
We aren’t signing Abbott Greene and Lodolo all long term There are 5 pitchers in a rotation as well This pick was good especially when you consider how much pitching is worth on the market
@tyjohnson99743 ай бұрын
He’s still a very great pitching prospect and we still need good young prospects in the organization. India was suppose to move into the outfield this year because of McClain at 2nd and we have a lot of young bats that can make the transition to the outfield. In my opinion it’s easier to find hitters than elite pitchers.
@burlyzulu3 ай бұрын
I understand all these replies but I just think that Condon was definitely the right pick. I’m not denying that Chase Burns is a elite prospect

I hate that pitching motion though, like it feels like injury prone in the making. I would not make this guy a starter, he’s more of reliever or a closer. I don’t get it like you throw an insane FB, but doesn’t have a splitter is like being tall and not play basketball.
@roadroller7793 ай бұрын
Idk man, kind of seems like he’s using his whole body when he throws. Also, his delivery is almost straight over the top and that curve looks nasty, which is something hunter Greene doesn’t have. To me that suggests that there’s less stress on the arm, but who knows, I could be wrong. In all honestly we didn’t need another infielder, so I’m ok with this pick.

Much harder to develop pitching and the Reds have failed over and over on this. Greene has been underwhelming and lives up in the zone and gets hit hard.
@Grusken193 ай бұрын
Bad take. Reds are one of the best orgs at developing SP, Greene has a 3.4 ERA how is that underwhelming? Abbott has been great this year, he has around a 3.3 ERA, and so does Lodolo. Considering the fact they play in GABP, that’s amazing and shows why they have a top 10 pitching staff rn.
