The Cinco Peso ($5) piece from Mexico, was silver in 1947-48. They became popular by Texas Rangers and early law officers for making their badges out of them.

Nelson- Silva made the best cinco peso badges for LE I have seen. He also made trophy belt buckles. When he passes his son took over the business but he didnt last long. Nelson-Silvia's shop was on San Jacinto St in Houston.

Hi John, thank you very much for this great video! Would you be so kind and let me know how you make the words into the coin. And how to make it black? Thank you so much! Many greetings across the atlantic -from Bavaria, Germany! Bruce

Well i did use a pathograph, rotating the coin to engrave each letter, and using a transferred on pattern to keep them in the right place. It was very time consuming and a easy way to mess up a coin, especially with my machine, which was really worn! Now I stamp them with a quality hand stamp set… following that up with a dentist like diamond cutter to even out the letters if need be. That has proven to take about 1/2 the time! The black is just permanent marker rubbed in a couple times and then polished over. Most engravers here use that to show the engravings. Thank you for writing.

Do for the Texas DPS Ranger Division? Oh! Will be one who makes the badge for the creators of the WALKER TEXAS Reboot? You make awsome badge, but in a friendly request instead of Texas Rangers, put Ranger Division. That term suit them as their current position.

Nice. What is your source for the heavy pin catches?
@JohnNordDesigns3 жыл бұрын
There is no source I know of any longer. If there is, I would like to know..... The last couple badges I did, I made the catches. Seem to work fine for the deputies that use them.
